Introduction

Change within an organization occurs for example when its overall strategy for success is added or subtracted or an operation or practice that has been in existence is to be changed. It can also be said to be a structured approach to transitioning individuals and the organization from its current state to a desired future state.

Organizational Change Description

This is organizational change is designed for Pioneer Packaging. The organizational change is designed to help the leaders to be more effective and be ready to utilize their skills so as to accelerate the organization. The organizational change is being advocated because the organization has been more on a one man lead. The president and owner of the company, Bob Steel has been making the decisions and part of the change is have his power distributed between himself and Mike Steel who is the Vice president of Sales and Marketing and hopefully the future vice president of the company.
Change could either bring positive or negative effects to an organization but as the diversified six we aim for the positive change for Pioneer Packaging. As noted, people in different organizations would want to protect the status quo and will often resist change.

Change Objectives

Change is designed to accelerate the sales of Pioneer Packaging (P.P.). The market environment is constantly changing and it requires strong competition which will be offered by P.P. As the Diversified Six, we aim at changing the organizational culture of P.P. which has been in existence for …… years. Several companies have problems with the agents of change; John P. Kotter has developed a process of eight stages that initiate change in order to guide organizations through the change process. Stage 1 is Increase Urgency. Every organization has experienced some level of success, but with each success earned, there has also been failure. When formulating a company’s own process for success, becoming stagnant in an ever-changing climate becomes an issue. I asked her to think about her first ten years of life and to describe times that she can remember being cared for. She said that it was her grandmother that did most of the caretaking for her, especially when she was sick. She recalled one time when she had a really bad sinus infection that her grandmother helped her through. When I asked her if she could think of any time she was not very well cared for, the only time she could think of is when her father would come home bombed, which sparked some intense arguments in the family. In this case, preacquisition earnings and dividends are $100,000 and $40,000, respectively. Historically, preacquisition earnings purchased were shown as a deduction on the income statement to arrive at consolidated net income. Under current GAAP, this is no longer the case. Instead, the consolidated income statement should only report revenues, expenses, gains and losses subsequent to the acquisition. For example, in a March 31 acquisition, the consolidated income statement would only include income of the subsidiary from April 1 through December 31. ...Denial Genocide is a process that develops in eight stages that are predictable but not inexorable. At each stage, preventive measures can stop it. The process is not linear. Logically, later stages must be preceded by earlier stages. But all stages continue to operate throughout the process. 1. CLASSIFICATION: All cultures have categories to distinguish people into “us and them” by ethnicity, race, religion, or nationality: German and Jew, Hutu and Tutsi. Bipolar societies that lack mixed categories, such as Rwanda and Burundi, are the most likely to have genocide. The main preventive measure at this early stage is to develop universalistic institutions that transcend ethnic or racial divisions, that actively promote tolerance and understanding, and that promote classifications that transcend the divisions. The Catholic church could have played this role in Rwanda, had it not been riven by the same ethnic cleavages as Rwandan society. Promotion of a common language in countries like Tanzania has also promoted transcendent national identity. This search for common ground is vital to early prevention of genocide. 2. ...Step One: Establishing a Sense of Urgency Establishing a sense of urgency is essential to gain the cooperation needed to initiate a greater need for change. Some leaders misjudge the difficulty to get people out of their comfort zone, or give themselves too much credit for how well they think they have already done. They could also just lack the patience required to develop appropriate urgency. Leaders should understand the importance of having a sense off urgency. If they did, they would be able to differentiate between complacency, false urgency and true urgency. Many times change initiatives fail isn’t due to being poorly thought out, or insufficient facts, the problem is that the case is all head and no heart. Leaders should “Aim for the Heart.” This way they will connect to the values of their people and encourage them to become great.
