The company has the backing of the international telecoms powerhouse Orascom. After its inception, the company has growth rapidly into the leading mobile phone service provider of the country. Orascom Telecom Holding S.A.E. ("Orascom Telecom") or ("OTH") was established in 1998 and has grown to become a major player in the telecommunication market.
