As stated in many the schoolhouse rocks video a bill is an idea for a new law that a congress man sponsors to become a law. A bill for the most part deals with a specific item or problem. Once a bill in introduced in congress it goes to a committee. In committee the bill is debated. In committee amendments can be added to a bill and the language in the bill can be changed. If the committee votes to approve the bill it will go to the full House to be voted on. If approved it moves to the Senate and the process starts again at the committee. If the Senate passes it the bill goes to the president to be signed to become a law. Now let’s answer the question what is an omnibus bill. An omnibus bill is defined as a bill that combines amendments to several laws or measures on diverse subjects into one bill, such as reconciliation bills, combined appropriation bills, spending bills and private relief and claims bills. ...Bill Davis Davis 1 Professor ENG 111 15 September 2010 Not Your Typical Fast Food Restaurant When you first look think of McDonald’s, you probably think of just a place to pick up a quick, cheep meal. In some cases, this is true. McDonalds is one of the most widely known and popular fast food restaurants around the world. It may not be a place for a romantic date, but there are not too many places you can go have a dinner with your family with the bill coming out to be under twenty dollars. Sure the food may be unhealthy, but it is the cheapest and most efficient route to satisfying your appetite. This may be why McDonald’s has become such a powerful food chain. But after visiting I realized the many different features that make this restaurant so attracting to people. Around lunchtime at noon, I walked across the parking lot, I noticed the drive through was packed with people just waiting to get their meals and get on the road. So I walked inside the doors of the McDonald’s, passed the cashier, and took a seat in one of the booths in the dining area. The booths were big and comfortable and they were all along walls of the dining area. This area was designated for people that wanted to sit down and enjoy their meals. People are spread out around the tables and booths far enough to where they are not invading other peoples conversations. ...

...A GUIDE TO ARGUMENTS FOR AND AGAINST THE REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH BILL This matrix has been prepared by a group of Catholics who feel that a systematic comparison of the arguments for and against the reproductive health (RH) bill may still serve some purpose at this juncture. It may help to bring the debate from the emotional temper which has characterized it thus far, to a more rational temper in which both sides attempt to comprehend each other’s perspectives. It is hoped that this presentation will allow each side to view the other’s argumentation as the legitimate offering of reasons in good faith which ought to characterize a democratic process of deliberation. Such a process must be valued equally by all who are committed to living together in a democracy, be they Catholic or non-Catholic, pro- or anti-contraception. Questions in the final column are provided to aid further reflection, with a view to clarifying positions and, perhaps, to building compromises that are morally and politically acceptable to both sides. Cosby Show

...Chapt 1 Assignment “The Cosby Show” Growing up in the 70's and 80's were very challenging. I came from a very traditional family, meaning both parents were in the home as well as all 7 of my siblings. My father worked hard and my mother stayed at home and raised us for a portion of that time. We often watched a lot of family oriented shows, “ Eight is Enough'', which was my mother's favorite.(I wonder why) Little House On The Prairie, The Jeffersons, etc. My personal favorite was the Cosby Show, although Little House on the Prairie was definitely in the running. One of the reasons I favor The Cosby Show is because it gave me hope. Growing up in the projects was not a joyful experience, although my parents did a great job with what they had. The Cosby Show depicted family in a very positive way. It provided an alternative to the stereotypical African American family. Unlike other black sitcoms such as “Good Times”, which always left you depressed after watching the show, “ The Jeffersons'', whose nanny was very loud and opinionated. The Huxtables were upper class people. Cliff Huxtable( Bill Cosby) was a doctor and his wife Claire( Phylicia Rashad) was a successful lawyer. The family structure was that of a nuclear unit or modern family. The gender roles of the parents were that of egalitarian. They were a two parent home with 5 children. They both balanced the responsibilities of supporting their children through work and quality time. The gender of the children were...

Bill Clinton

...An essay on Bill CLinton In this essay I will consider the social, economic and political factors of Bill CLinton. Underestimate Bill CLinton at your peril. Indispensable to homosapians today, it is yet to receive proper recognition for laying the foundations of democracy. It is an unfortunate consequence of our civilizations history that Bill CLinton is rarely given rational consideration by those most reliant on technology, who form the last great hope for our civilzation. In the light of this I will break down the issues in order to give each of them the thought that they fully deserve Social Factors While some scholars have claimed that there is no such thing as society, this is rubbish. When blues legend 'Bare Foot D' remarked 'awooooh eeee only my dawg understands me' [1] he failed to understand that if one seriously intends to 'not judge a book by its cover', then one must read a lot of books. Both tyranny and democracy are tried and questioned. Yet Bill CLinton raises the question 'why?' Nothing represents every day life better than Bill CLinton, and I mean nothing. If society has a favourite child, it is Bill CLinton. Economic Factors Derived from 'oikonomikos,' which means skilled in household management, the word economics is synonymous with Bill CLinton. We will study the Greek-Roman model. For those of you unfamiliar with this model it is derived from the Three-Amigos model but with greater emphasis on the outlying gross national......

Cosby Speech

...Dr Bill Cosby spoke to an audience at the 50th Anniversary Commemoration of the Brown vs.Topeka board of Education supreme court decision. Cosby’s purpose was to inform his audience of the shortcomings of the African-American community and persuade them to better themselves. He began his speech by acknowledging the sacrifices that were made for civil rights. He then compared those achievements to the devastating and poor statistics of school dropouts and bastard children found in the African-American community today. Cosby proceeded to attack the lack of parenting that occurs in lower middle class environments that, he says, leads to incarceration. He also addressed a lack of accountability in the community by saying “God is Tired of You”. Cosby chose to address his audience directly by using words like “you”and “we”. He made jokes throughout his speech to keep his audience engaged and used a level of diction that was accessible to his audience. He employed several calls to action, in which he encourages African-Americans to “Take the neighborhood back”, by dressing more conservatively and speaking proper English. He spoke about the illiteracy that is prominent amongst black athletes and multimillionaires, who found success despite their obstacles. Throughout his speech Dr. Cosby reinforced the message that the state of the black community is not due to what outsiders have imposed, but what black people have done to themselves. The tone of Cosby’s words was sincere and......

...humor, you can soften some of the worst blows that life delivers. And once you find laughter, no matter how painful your situation might be, you can survive it” (Cosby, Brainy Quote). Life events form the patterns of one’s thought process and these enthusiastic comedians have a hands-on quest to create an unrestricted social order for all humanity. Bill Cosby was a poor African American child, shining shoes to help support his family, seemed destined to continue a struggle for survival. Equally, young Jeff Foxworthy seemed the privileged and confident Christian assured a successful career behind a computer, rather than achieve fame and notoriety in Hollywood. They each deliver their messages by means of hilarious storytelling and both developed their values and audience based in part on a father’s influence and a mothers guiding hands. There are many differences and similarities between Bill Cosby and Jeff Foxworthy, nevertheless; each man attempts to influence their audiences in a parallel direction. Although each man sought to imitate his father, both eventually found success by going their own way. Born into what appeared to be a hopeless situation, Bill Cosby realized the importance of educating children to overcome racial and economic obstacles. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1937, an era of......

Bill Cosby Is a Hypocrite

...The hypocrite that is Bill Cosby. Have you ever looked up to someone and follow in his footsteps to find out that he is not the man he says he is? Bill Cosby is a great example of being someone you look up to finding out the end that he is a fraud. I truly believe that Bill Cosby is a hypocrite, because if he criticizes other people that were just like him, he never stopped being a dirty man after he got married, and he also said that he protects their women. Bill Cosby has made a career of making fun of African Americans that are poor, but he fails to recall that in his young life he was also a black man. Cosby has forgotten were he came from and has made a name for himself for criticizing people that are poor. This is shown when contemporary artist Michael Owens states, “He used his celebrity status to clown poor black people. Cosby used to be a poor black person.” (July 21, 2015). This is saying that Cosby is a hypocrite because he has made fun of poor African Americans and he has also been a poor African American. Cosby should remember his roots before thinking about making fun of someone of a group of people. To add, that Bill Cosby is a hypocrite Cosby has said, “I'm beginning to hate men,’ he quips, ‘because I know men. They're basically filthy and nasty and dirty. I know that. I used to be a man, before I got married.” (as cited in July 9, 2015). This was taken from an article from Stacia L. Brown who is a writer. Cosby is saying that when he got married he......

...More views against the RH bill are pouring in. Apparently they have not been considered by the Lower House Committee before the bill was endorsed to the entire body for approval in the plenary session. Hence for the enlightenment of our legislators and the entire citizenry, presented here are some more of these views, one of them coming from a lawyer Atty. Rex A. Salvilla who clearly and ably refutes some stand of the bill’s advocates: “First, the advocates say that the opponents of RH bill are anti-poor for allowing population explosion. This is not true because the opponents, like the advocates are also for population control. Both differ only on the method of control – the advocates thru condom which cost money while the opponents thru natural family planning which costs not a single centavo but only mere discipline on the part of the spouses So, who is anti-poor? It is the advocates. Second, the advocates say that they are pro-choice. This is not also true. The draft bill contains a penal clause punishing by imprisonment and/or fine those obstructing the use of condoms and promoting family planning. Is this not like tying a person to a post and telling him, “You are free”? So, where is “pro-choice” here? In fact, the bill is a “no-choice” piece. Third, the advocates say that the Pope supports condom use. This is interpreting the Pontiff out of context. The Pope simply provided an exception in the same way that God has also provided exceptions to His own commandments.......
