...Career Exploration COUN 522-D15: Career Development and Counseling Liberty University Career Field/Occupation of Choice For the purpose of this paper, I have chosen to explore the occupation field of education, guidance, school, and vocational counselors. More specifically, the focus of this paper will be on the career field of school counselors. My primary interest is identified as social, with my highest work value being relationships. These assessment results are accurate and highlight my personal passions and professional career aspirations. The counselor serves as an advocate with the goal of guiding students towards success on both a personal and academic level. This support includes, but is not limited to, career development activities, drug and bullying prevention, and personal counseling regarding social, emotional, and behavioral issues. Although the duties will vary depending on the age of the student population, a school counselor exists to help students discover their unique abilities and interests. A school counselor will then assist the student in how to transfer their abilities and interests into career goals and life plans for a successful future. ...Career Plan Reflection David Clayton BCOM/275 09/29/2014 Mark Trollinger Career Plan Reflection This course has given me tools that I will use in the future. I really did not realize there were so many different areas to communication. I communicate everyday but, there are times I may not know how to communicate something to a certain individual. I have always been scared to death of public speaking and this class has shown me why I have that fear. Not knowing the information I am speaking about, really knowing the information has caused me problems in the past. Just the fear of being in front of people and having to speak had me so scared, what little I did know I forgot because of fear. I meet new people every day and have to learn to communicate better to help my business grow into what I want it to be. Listening is another area that needs to be addressed. In day to day life we seem to be so busy that we do not have time to listen. I am sitting here at this moment and there is so much noise I can hardly think. I think between cell phones, home phones, computers, television, games, and children, it is very hard to just listen. Years ago there were not as many cell phones, I did not even have a cell phone. Today if someone said what is your cell phone number and you told them you did not have a cell phone that would probably look at you like you were crazy. I love technology but I feel there are times when technology is the main focus of some......

LET’S BEgIN! one TURN YOUR COMPUTER OFF What’s the first thing you do when you start preparing for a presentation? For many of us, the first thing we do is open up PowerPoint, Keynote, or Prezi and start assembling our imagery. While these programs can be helpful in laying out and organizing our content, they’re not good place to start. The first thing to do is define the message we want to communicate. The problem with using visuals as our starting point is that when start with the how of our presentation we lack the clarity of thought to remember the what that we’re communicating. Our tunnel vision will lead us astray later down the road. By looking at your talk objectively you can determine the best course to take before getting into the details of......

Adult Education Career Presentation

...Factors Influencing Current Adult Learning Abstract AET/505 November 11, 2012 Factors Influencing Current Adult Learning Abstract The global trend for adult learning is that everyone agrees that participation is good thing, however they all realize there are barriers to participation (Brookfield, S.,2000). The future of adult education is that first information on adult education learning has to be received by the workforces of the world (Kasworm, C., 2007). The future also depends on the digitbal provides of education that need to create accessible and universal opportunities for adult learners (Kasworm, C., 2007). Knowledge is updated daily and these providers must keep up with the world. Technology is changing every day and those that want to provide the education opportunities must change with it. The digital educators must realize that the workforce they are continually educating is not always those that are working. They sometimes will be the undereducated, the disenfranchised and the dislocated worker. All will be trying to further their educations in hope of a better job or life (Kasworm, C., 2007). The educators are not always the edcuational institutions, they include government at all levels, employers and community institutions such as librarys (Merriam, S., Caffarella, R., & Baumgartner, L. ,2007). It is proven that the adults that are socialized and take advantage of the learning opportunities will acquire the skills needed to further their......
