Introduction
I have been called in as an intern to help business owners Lisa Tejada and Ruben keys with their business to make it more successful. Lisa and Ruben are great music lovers of all kinds from country to jazz. Lisa and Ruben graduated from college with Business Administration degrees. They both decided that they wanted to do something with the knowledge that they have in business. Lisa and Ruben decided that they love music and decided to open a night club. This club is for the public to come and enjoy music, dancing, and dinning. Lisa and Ruben need to make some changes in their company. They are doing well but they can use improvements in the company. Lisa and Ruben want to become more successful within their business and decided to hire me as an intern to oversee what is needed to make their business see more profits and become successful and open a second club in the future.
Lisa, Ruben and I have sat down for a meeting and I have advised them of certain things that I have seen that need to be done to help the business run the best it can. I know if we change some of the office items that Lisa and Ruben can have a successful business. The first items that I have advised Lisa and Ruben that the dial up connection is to slow for what they want to do. They want to start ordering online from his vendors, distributors, and all the supply chains needed to run the business. With a dialup connection it is the slowest connection there is. Dialup connections will not load the web-site as fast as needed. It takes longer to open and download attachments needed for the ordering process. The software on the computers is old and needs to be updated with new technology and newer software to work faster than it has been. Dial up connection is to slow in speed to do everything needed…...

The club for the most part has been using an information system that seems to work for them. There is a need for improvement in certain areas to create a system that will more satisfy the needs of staff, customers and open the doors for e-commerce as Ruben suggests. Implementing Rapid application development system (RAD) the club would be combining joint application design (JAD), computer assisted software engineering tools (CASE), and prototyping to produce a high quality system quickly (Rainer 2009). The internet connection to the office is a problem that cannot be ignored. Although the dial up connection is less expensive than the high speed internet, in some areas dial up was 14% lower in 2003 (Whitacre, B. E., & Mills, B. F. (2010) and it is still lower priced today. The main problem with this is the speed at which information can be down loaded, and streaming music and video could be an all-day affair if possible at all. ...Club IT, Part 3 XBIS/219 April 29, 2012 Joy Fluker Club IT, Part 3 Every business minded person aims towards owning a business while targeting certain type of people if not all kinds of people with the aim to satisfy their clients and at the same time maximize profit. As an entrepreneur, one gets to enjoy certain benefits of particularly choosing the people one works with (Dahl, 2011). Club IT is a downtown music joint that is managed by two Business Administration graduates Lisa Tejada and Ruben Keys. This kind of business has always been their dream as they both have extensive knowledge on how to run a nightclub, as a result of their part-time job held as musicians during their time in school. They both also have passion for music and the knowledge of business acquired from school will only guide them to running a successful business. Noting that for every startup of a business, there is need for investment after which turnovers are achieved. Lisa and Ruben have invested into the Club by remodeling the interior with fancy installations that are quite inviting. For more liveliness, they hired live bands on certain days of the week and also a live DJ who uses digital data such as MP3 playlist to entertain the guest. With all this installation and the profitability achieved as well as the dream they have for Club IT, Lisa and Ruben discovered that other sides of the business will need some improvement such as their information system therefore deciding...

...Final Project: Club IT – Part 3 XBIS/219   Final Project: Club IT - Part 3 Introduction From day one, the assignment given by Ruben and Lisa has been overwhelming, but fun. The excitement is getting to know the staff, their duties, and to watch them work a full house, as well as entertaining friends at Club IT. The overwhelming part is all the information and ideas that needs integrated and implemented into this club. As an intern hired to complete the needs of Club IT, the major focus is helping Ruben and Lisa expand, maintain, and continue to build its client list. Club IT is a nightclub of music and dance. Ruben Keys, a drummer and Lisa Tejada, a jazz violinist, both graduates with Business Administration degrees, decided to own and operate a nightclub ("Club It", 2000-2013). They have come to realize that running a business goes beyond having degrees and physical experience with nightclubs. Ruben and Lisa have discovered that there is a need for business information systems, more in the realm of full analysis of their information needs. This technology plan will give more insight and focus on what it takes for Club IT to get to the level of competitiveness in their market, the integration of customer relations management software and open-source software applications with their current systems, and a financial projection overview giving cost analysis, productive areas, and growth. Organization and Demographic Information Ruben Keys and Lisa Tejada...

In our initial meeting we discussed what was expected of the job that was being undertaken. They explained to me a little about the club and an overview of their need to boost their information technology, data management, and decision-making capabilities. “To learn more about Club IT’s operations, we stayed until the 2:00 a.m. closing this morning to see how everything was tallied and accounted at the end of a business day. Although it was a late night and we had to wake up early this morning to report back to work, we now have a better understanding of the daily business cycle at Club IT. Lisa asked me for suggestions on how to use club and public resources to keep Club IT’s edge as the high-energy, high-impact club it strives to be”.(Wiley, 2009) “Lisa and Ruben have just completed extensive remodeling of the interior of Club IT and are......

Case Analysis 10-3 Kansas City Zephyrs Baseball Club, Inc.

...differences between owners’, players’, GAAP and truth number exist?(Can accounting numbers be neutral representations of what happened? What happens if a retired non-roster player (e.g. Joe Portocararo) returns to the active roster while continuing to earn the same money promised him in his guaranteed contract? Of what importance are the periodic net income numbers if the clubs can always be sold for huge profits? How should Bill Ahern resolve the accounting conflict between the owners and players? How much did the Kansas City Zephyrs Baseball Club earn in 1983 and 1984? Facts This case shows that how different accounting methods can lead a company to different positions. That is what Bill Ahern was selected on April 9 to focus on reviewing the finances of the Kansas City Zephyrs Baseball Club, Inc., which was bought on November 1, 1982 by five shareholders for $24 million, because both the representatives of the owner of the 26 major league baseball teams and the professional players association agreed that Kansas City Zephyrs Baseball Club’s operations were representative, and the baseball club entity was not owned by another corporation, and it did not own the stadium where they play. So Bill Ahern was reviewing their finances on April 17, 1985. He had to make a difficult judgement in next two days. He spent Tuesday reviewing the history of major league baseball and the relationship between the various entities. On following day, Wednesday, he met with the twi......

Club It Week 3

...Club IT Status Week 3 W. Tourigny BIS/219 Club IT Status Week 3 Club IT Club IT is a venue owned by Ruben Keys and Lisa Tejada. Both having a business degree, they seem to work well together in running and maintaining the financials of the company. Recently they remodeled the interior of the club, giving it high ceilings and high energy lighting. Their next project is to work on the informational systems to provide an atmosphere and shopping experience for their consumers that will continue to bring them back. [ (Rainer, 2009) ] Three Business Problems Club IT has gotten off to a good start, but does have room for some improvements. One of the problems that I notice with the club is they still use dial-up internet connection. While dial-up might be less expensive, it is much slower. Also, while using the dial-up connection the phone line is tied up. Another problem I see is on the website itself. There are things that can be improved and upgraded to make the site more user friendly which we will discuss a little later. The third thing that I see is that they need a digital dashboard to monitor their performance more accurately. [ (Rainer, 2009) ] Club IT's resources, customers, and supply chain One of the resources that Club IT does have and use is intranet software. By using it they can run their business smoother by providing employees access to schedules, insurance forms, and other company information while maintaining privacy. The generation of customers......

Club It - Part 3

...Club IT, Technology Plan Club IT owned by Lisa Tejada and Ruben Keys, is a new nightclub that has enjoyed considerable success during its short start up phase. It has established a strong customer base and has expanded it during the recent months. It is a popular hot spot everyday of evening of the week. Customers count for the atmosphere, food, and drink. The owners have recently renovated the building and are now looking to expand their operations through the technology department. They will be implementing a new integrated information system. The intention of this upgrade is to improve profitability and to increase overall customer satisfaction. While interning at Club IT, I became familiar with the operations of the industry requirements for nightclub operations. The club’s target population and the requirements for running the club are part of these operations. Organization and Demographics Club IT’s goal is to provide customers with a high energy atmosphere in which they can receive high quality service, food, drinks, and music. The target population is of the legal drinking age of 21 through mid-thirties. The Net Generation or Millennium makes up the bulk of the clubs clientele. This age range of clientele embraces popular and new technologies. That means that innovation must be employed at all levels of service for this group to maintain customer loyalty. Word of mouth interactions provide strong forward motion for the new clientele to use the Club......

Club It Part 3

...Club IT, Part 3 Student Name Axia College of University of Phoenix XBIS 219 Instructor Date Opened in 2005, Club IT has enjoyed success in a business, nightclub, where many fail. This is mostly because of the experience of the owners, Ruben Keys and Lisa Tejada. Both Keys and Tejada graduated from college with degrees in Business Administration and during college they both worked in numerous nightclubs as musicians while attending college. Entertainment at Club IT is all music related with live bands on the weekends and a live DJ on the weekdays. Club IT's customers are mostly tech knowledgeable young adults. Smart phones, tablets, and other forms of wireless communications are part of their everyday lives and they are just as likely to shop online as they are to shop at a brick and mortar business. (Appendix D, n.d.) Also, their customers are frequent visitors to social media sites like Facebook and Youtube. Even though the owners have experience their success is impressive because their information systems are either non existent or out of date. The primary goal of information systems is to process data into information and knowledge. Data is raw information that has not been organized or analyzed. Once data has been organized so it has meaning and value it becomes information. Data and knowledge that has been processed to convey understanding, experience, accumulated learning, and expertise as they apply to a business-related problem is considered......

Club It Part 3

...Final Project: Club IT, Part 3 Wayne G. Hatfield XBIS/219 Shenise L. Soto Club IT, owned by Ruben Keys and Lisa Tejada, is a fresh, hot night club located in the center of downtown Chicago. It is a hotspot for people to come and enjoy food, drinks, and local concerts. When Ruben and Lisa designed this night club, they began to think how they could attract more than just night club customers. By implementing a good ethical standard for new businesses, Ruben and Lisa made this business a Web base business. Customers can register online and place their orders ahead of time. Also they can pre-register for upcoming concerts, upcoming events, and receive a discount. The two owners had many goals for this business when it first opened. One of the many discussions included with the management team and that they were happy with the technology department. However, they would like to see it improve over the next several months. A major concern they had was that they needed to find a better way to run the technology of the building in a faster, more effective way before they could open another building. The vision Ruben has is one day running both buildings on the same technology system. This can be done, however it will take the right team of professionals to implement the programs. Club IT should also have not just one, but multiple computer programs to aid them in running the facility. Different questions could be asked. How does the staff take orders at the bar? What about...

Final Project: Club It, Part 3

...Final Project: Club IT, Part 3 There is no much that you have to take into consideration before you can open up a business and so much you have to maintain after it opens up. Club IT is a nightclub that has been open for a few months now and it seems to be very successful. To have a successful nightclub, you must make sure that you are offering you cliental what they want, so that they keep coming back and bring their friends and family with them. Owing a nightclub can be very expensive and risky, but sometimes you have to take chances like the owners of Club IT did. In this paper you will be reading about the technology plan that Club IT has. Organization Description and Demographic Information Both Ruben Keys and Lisa Tejada, in 2005, graduated from college and they both earned their degrees in business administration. While they were taking courses in college, Lisa and Ruben worked as musicians, Lisa on the jazz violin and Ruben on the drums, this allowed them to work at different nightclubs and also helped them earn money to get through school. While working in these different nightclubs they were able to learn and get firsthand experience on how to own and operate a nightclub. There is nothing wrong with getting the experience you need on someone else’s dime because this would be considered trial and error, when you are able to do this you really get to see if this is the kind of business that you want to get into, especially when you have to use your own money...
