Consumer's Response to Sex in Advertising

...Consumer’s response to sex in advertising Sexual advertisements undeniably succeed in getting consumers’ attention because sex always evokes a hardwired emotional response. However, grabbing attention is just the first step; the real aim of a commercial is product selling. Do the viewers really appreciate the sexual information used in ads? Or in other words, does sex really help sell? I feel that the effectiveness of “sex sell” depends on two main factors. One is how the product is relative to sex. Will the product bring sex-related benefit to the consumers? For example, will consumers be more sexually attractive or have better sex if they buy the product. These are the crucial questions that customers are going to think about when they make the purchasing decision. Obviously, if the sexual content in advertising is appropriate to the product category and has a proper underlying message, it will help sells and build a brand reputation that will yield long-term results. Calvin Klein is an example who benefits from his sexual positioning strategies. Calvin Klein has successfully imbued his brand’s identity with sexuality. For over 30 years, sex in one form or another has been a mainstay in CK fragrance, fashion, underwear, and accessories ads. And here comes the gratifying results. In 2005, products with Calvin’s name generated at least $1 billion in annual revenue.1 The same is true for Victoria’s Secret. With its stable of supermodels clad only in panties and bras, the......

Consumer's Report

...Peter Porter focuses on the consumerist society and the problems of life that a person goes through in his poem 'A Consumer's Report'. This is explored by the sustained metaphor of life and the monologue used which has an implied listener which is the reader. The tone drifts from a solemn one to a cynical one to highlight life's problems in that to portray how people see life as a bad thing. The main issue from the poem is that it is a life is satirical and people have become too indulged by product that it has become a consumerist capitalist state of society. The first line of the poem, "The name of the product I tested is Life" expresses the poet's feelings that to him life is just a product and this adds to the title as it is a comparison of life to a product. Products, being tangible goods, have "different labels, sizes and colours". The poet comments on this because he feels that tPeter Porter focuses on the consumerist society and the problems of life that a person goes through in his poem 'A Consumer's Report'. Air pollution is actually the addition of any harmful substances to the atmosphere, which causes the damaging of the environment, human health and the quality of life. With the development in industry, came along the increase in air pollution, which occurs inside homes, schools, offices even in the countryside. Consequently there has been an increase in the death rates resulting from various diseases caused by air pollution varying from breathing problem to lung cancer. Air pollution does not only affect people but it also damages the whole ecological system in which plants and animals are harmed as well. Air pollution has reached such a critical stage where it affects the earth's atmosphere as it lets in more harmful radiation from the sun. Consequently, our polluted atmosphere is becoming a better insulator, thus, preventing heat from escaping back into space. That is why there is a global rise in temperature which scientists refer to as " global warming". As a result of this rise in temperature the world food supply and sea level will be affected, also there is the probability of increase in the tropical disease. Sources of Air Pollution The combustion of gasoline and other hydrocarbon fuels in automobiles, trucks, and jet airplanes produces several primary pollutants: nitrogen oxides, gaseous hydrocarbons, and carbon monoxide, as well as large quantities of particulates, chiefly lead. In the presence of sunlight, nitrogen......

Pollution of Air

...INTRODUCTION With the great concern surrounding the destruction of the earth's atmosphere due to air pollution, the immediate and direct harm caused to the human body is often over shadowed. While many are aware that our careless use of hazardous chemicals and fossil fuels may leave the planet uninhabitable in the future, most over look the fact that they also cause real damage to our bodies at this moment. Such pollutants cause damage to our respiratory system, leading to the fluctuation of the life span of an individual depending on a number of conditions. Amongst these conditions are the individuals specific geographic location, age, and life style. In this essay I will try to explain what pollutants are and how they affect our bodies. What are the pollutants? And how do they affect our bodies?  In order to understand how air pollution affects our body, you must understand exactly what this pollution is. The pollutants that harm our respiratory system are known as particulates. Particulates are the small solid particles that you can see through a ray of sunlight. They are products of incomplete combustion in engines example: automobile engines, road dust, and wood smoke. Billions of tons of coal and oil are consumed around the world every year.  When these fuels burn they produce smoke and other by-products into the atmosphere. Although wind and rain occasionally wash away the smoke given off by power plants and automobiles, much still remains. Particulate matter......

Air Care Trende

...Is Next in Air Care Scent Trends? Article | 18 Aug 2011 Fragrance developments have moved air care from the functional to the emotional, but what does that mean for future trends in scent? Air Care No Longer a Cover Up Not so long ago, the primary if not only function of air fresheners was to mask unpleasant odours, but clever marketing over the last decade has brought a complete change in consumer perceptions of the category's purpose. As home care manufacturers came to recognise the competitive advantage of offering new and unusual fragrances in their ranges in order to drive sales, scent innovations brought about more experiential and complex fragrances, resulting in a shift in focus for the entire air care category. Consumers no longer turn to air care products only when there are nasty smells to be removed or masked; they now buy into the category when they want to enhance the environment in their homes. A category that once could have been considered almost a commodity used only out of necessity has been subtly transformed into a category deeply connected to consumers' emotions. The scent of success Although one of the most expensive ingredients in any home care product, fragrances are worth manufacturers' investment in terms of time and money as they are extremely important to a product's success. A unique scent can be a powerful differentiator, giving a product the edge in an otherwise saturated market. Fragrance is a crucial factor in the consumer's final......

Air Pollution

...This essay is about Air Pollution, Sources of Air Pollution and Effects of Air Pollution Air pollution is the presence of abnormal concentration and abnormal constituents in air. We know that Fresh air is needed for a healthy life. That is why people go out for morning walks so that they can breathe as much fresh air as possible. But the quality of the air has been deteriorating in urban areas. It is being polluted by smoke, harmful gasses, dust articles and other matters. The burning of petrol and diesel in running vehicles emits carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide and unburnt hydrocarbon particles. These pollutants are released in the air breathe. They are very harmful for out health. The burning of various fuels in factories and power plants emit carbon monoxide carbon dioxide and other poisonous gases that are left off in the atmosphere. Yet without burning fuel, the production of goods in industries is not possible. So the growth of industrial production is at the cost of polluting air. Various chemical industries such as those manufacturing acids, plastics, dyes and paint, paper, pesticides, petrochemical emit hazardous fumes and gases such as sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons and fluorocarbons. Industrial dust also causes air pollution. Dust coming out from the cement kilns, lime kilns, stone crushing and asbestos factories are the main causes of breathing problems and lung diseases in our country. ...Professor: Mr. Manish BY: Himanshu Bhatia JL12PGDM073 PGDM Sec -B Mortgage Mortgage has been defined in Section 58(a) of Transfer of Property Act as "the transfer of an interest in specific immovable property for the purpose of securing the payment of money advanced or to be advanced by way of loan, an existing or future debt, or the performance of an engagement which may give rise to a pecuniary liability" It works on the simple idea of lien over another's property and is effected as an instrument between the lender and borrower. The borrower seeks a loan against the security of his property. This is done by transferring an interest of the immovable property to the lender and it entails pecuniary/financial liability as well. The person who advances loan against security is referred to as the 'mortgagor' and the one who seeks loan is the "mortgagee". Mortgages can be on any freehold or leasehold immovable property. Definitions: 1. Debt / Mortgage Money: The principal borrowed from the lender. The borrower in addition to the principal has to pay the interest levied on it. 2. Redemption: It means that the interest transferred to the mortgagee during the transaction at the time of the execution of mortgage would be vested back in the mortgagor at the time of recovery. 3. Mortgage Deed: It is a legal instrument in accordance with the mortgage law in India and duly stamped under Indian Stamp Act, 1889. It is legally binding on both......
