The below information’s I believe to great extend affects the eventual decisions of the case. Ernest and Julio Gallo were the founders of E. & J. Gallo Winery. Since its establishment in 1993, E. & J. Gallo Winery had undergone rapid growth from a small-scale firm to an equivalent “Campbell Soup company of the wine industry”. Today, the company stands as a global wine producer. Its well-reputable brand name stems from its well-diversified product line, manufactured under various labels for a number of different price ranges to attract all types of consumers, and global recognition and awards. E. & J. Gallo was the first American company to date to be recognized three times as International Winery of the Year. In 2006, Gallo received the Gold and Best of Class awards at the San Francisco Wine Competition and won individual awards for its cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay.
The possession of major competitive advantages that its competitors did not hold largely contributed to Gallo’s success in the wine industry. Some of these included the entrepreneurial freedom it had as a privately owned firm, the wise stewardship of Ernest and Julio Gallo, low-cost mass production, and strong distribution.

... The Documentary Hypothesis was created by Julius Wellhausen in 1878, and it was used to explain the different groups of people, and ways the Torah was written and edited. There are four different groups within this theory that consist of the J, E, D, and P’s (Coogan, 43). At first it started out with the problem of timing for the different names of God that the J’s and E’s focused on. The J’s were the Yahwist; claiming to the idea that the name Yahweh starts from the begging, in Genesis. The E’s were the Elohist; with the idea that the name Elohim is what starts at the begging of the Torah, and it is not until God reveals His name, Yahweh, to Moses in Exodus that Yahweh becomes the main name for God. After the J’s and E’s there are the D’s and P’s to be considered. The D’s shortened for Deuteronomic focused more on the book of Deuteronomy and its contents. The P’s were the Priestly group focusing more on the ideas and concepts of law, rituals, and other such matters. The four divisions are divided into J, E, D, and P; some having a few similarities, but it is the differences that make them unique. The Yahwist, or the J’s, being one of the oldest groups, have a unique idea of God, giving him anthropomorphic qualities, and focusing on the images and ideas the Torah gives of God having these human like mannerisms; as in the Garden of Eden when he forms the humans, walks with them, and talks to them there is a personal closeness. In 2013, J&J reported three different types of long-lived assets on their Consolidated Balance Sheet. The first kind reported was Plant, Property, and Equipment. The second one was Intangible Assets and third was Goodwill. We will be investigating these three assets in further detail.  J&J reported $16,710 million net worth of PP&E. Within this major asset category are many sub accounts: Land & Improvements, Building & Building Equipment, and Construction in Progress, Machine & Equipment, and Depreciation.  Johnson & Johnson uses the straight-line depreciation method for its assets.  In 2013, there was $2.7 billion of accumulated depreciation and amortization of capitalized interested; it increased about $.2 billion since 2012. Table 1 lays out the estimated useful lives of the assets. The company capitalizes certain computer software and development cost which are amortized over the span of 3-8 years. ...E & J Gallo Winery is a winery and distributor in Modesto, California. Two brothers Ernest Gallo and Julio Gallo founded E & J Gallo Winery in 1933. In 2006 wine in the United States represented a $28 billion industry with 716 million gallons sold. 92 million gallons were desert wines. The desert wine segment is 8% of US wine sales so it’s not that important in the wine industry. According to time Thunderbird and Night train account for less than 3% of sales for Gallo, although Gallo's brands make up 16.1% of the dessert wine category. The redeeming features would be both brands, although thought to be "wino" drinks, provide an entry to the market place for some drinkers.
