...television studios made it possible for movies to be sold online via download to combat the illegal downloading problem. 2) Disruptive technology has impacted YouTube by making it negotiate licensing agreements, copyright infringement and all this to prevent people from viewing illegal content. 3) The movie studios have dealt with YouTube by negotiating license agreements that would make movies available to be viewed legally. The goal of the response is to eliminate viewing of copyrighted content on YouTube. The movie studios can learn that they can sell content over the internet to make profit just like the music industry used iTunes to produce revenue. 4) Motion Picture companies should definitely use YouTube to promote their new films because YouTube is the most popular video sharing website in the world and millions of people are on YouTube daily. 5) I find that there are many videos, some made by the studio that the movie was filmed by and others made by random people that uploaded the video under “fair use”. Both ways created publicity for the movie and thus making the movie profitable online. There are advertisements attached to the video, often related to the movie or another movie by the same studio. This way of advertising is definitely effective because many people will watch the video on YouTube and spread it on twitter, Facebook, and other social media outlets....

Youtube Analysis

...YouTube By Lars Ole Meyer, 1.u YouTube is a website where one can share his or her videos. It was created by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim in February 2005, they had worked together at Pay-Pal (an internet payment method), and received money that the corporation had in surplus to start a new project. YouTube as we know it today is credited to two events. First, one of the co-founders could not find the video containing Janet Jackson’s accidental exposure of her breast at the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show. Secondly, two of the cofounders could not share a personal video with each other using e-mail. To sum up, YouTube was created, so that one could easily share videos with one another and furthermore it became a portal where one could find popular and wanted videos without having to surf the internet for hours. After a year, YouTube announced that more than 100 million videos were being watched every day and around 60.000 videos were being added on a daily basis. The first video on the site is called “Me going to the zoo” uploaded by Jawed Karim on the 23’rd of April and it only lasts 19 seconds. Today YouTube has evolved with great pace. It was bought by Google in November 2006 for the sum of 1.65 billion US$. I have my own channel on YouTube, partly so that I can follow my favorite uploaders, currently I subscribe to 99 channels and 15 people follow me. I also use my account to upload stuff. This is a very delicate matter to me; I have only uploaded a few of...

Google and Youtube Merger

...Google and YouTube HRM 587 (Managing Organizational Change) Google and YouTube The two companies we have decided to research and discuss are Google and YouTube. We would like to look into the recent merger they had and what caused these two companies to come to this decision. YouTube is a website that enables users to upload videos of places they have been, things they have done, tutorials and etc. YouTube has greatly grown since 2005 and now has millions of videos uploaded each day of various things. Google is a popular search engine that is commonly used to access information from websites all over the world. Before YouTube was bought out by Google it was suffering from financial struggles. The company was a victim of its own success as consumer demands for their service would allow people to upload videos to YouTube which continued to add capacity (Kafka, 2010). Consequently, the company could not turn a profit. In fact, consumer demand for YouTube remains strong today as there are hundreds of hours of video uploaded to YouTube every minute and there are now hundreds of YouTube channels that can be subscribed to (YouTube Company Information, n.d.). Google, on the other hand, was in good financial shape pre-merger (Google Investor Relations, n.d.). It had plenty of money to purchase promising companies, especially ones that would expand Google’s advertising capabilities and revenues. The bottom line is that both YouTube and Google appeared to be a......

Youtube Challenges

...Michelle Locke Ms. Kitti English 10 3 June 2013 On a daily basis teens watch YouTube videos. There’s everything from music videos, medical procedures, and cooking instructions. There are also videos showing teens and pre-teens uploading videos that encourage dangerous and sometimes deadly challenges. The more outrageous the challenge the bigger audience you will have. A lot of kids end up in the emergency room. “Last week a 15-year-old boy died while copying a YouTube video he and his friends had seen. While standing, he passed out, and fell forward crashing into an empty drinking glass. His collarbone broke the glass and a shard sliced through his interior and exterior jugular vein. He died shortly after arriving at the hospital. It’s called the choking game. (kidsdr)” There are many types of challenges, ranging from a little bit of danger to very dangerous. The chicken nugget challenge is a challenge where you have to eat a number of chicken nuggets as fast as you can. The chubby bunny challenge is where you shove marshmallows in your mouth and say chubby bunny, the one with the most marshmallows in their mouth, and is able to clearly say chubby bunny, wins. These challenges are dangerous because there is a high risk of choking. Two challenges that teens are doing are the gallon milk challenge and the Sprite and banana challenge. These challenges ultimately end up with the challenger vomiting. A very popular challenge is the cinnamon challenge, when someone......

Youtube

...WHAT IS YOUTUBE YouTube is a website designed for sharing video. Millions of users around the world have created accounts on the site that allow them to upload videos that anyone can watch. Every minute of every day, more than 35 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube. Video files can be very large and are often too big to send to someone else by email. By posting a video on YouTube, you can share a video simply by sending the other person a url ‘link’ – that is, the 'address' of the relevant internet page. When YouTube was created in 2005, it was intended for people to post and share original video content. But since then it's also become both an archive for storing favourite clips, songs and jokes, as well as a marketing site for companies to promote their products. Nowadays the term ‘viral video’ is common. This refers to a video clip that people have liked so much that they've shared its link by email with millions of others around the globe – in effect, it's spread like a virus. Companies have realised that they can harness this ability to reach potential customers and have created their own YouTube accounts for posting advertisements and other marketing videos. Film and television companies maintain a tight control over their own content and block illegal sharing of their programmes. However, several now use YouTube to allow fans to see high-quality trailers or repeats of recently aired shows. ADVANTAGES OF USING YOUTUBE i) Huge video database ...

Youtube Project

...Beijing Opera (Youtube Project) This project is centered on Beijing Opera also referred to as Peking Opera or as the Chinese call it Jingju. It’s a form of the traditional Chinese theater that combines dance, mime, acrobatics, music, and vocal performance. Beijing Opera developed in the late eighteenth century and became fully recognized throughout China by the mid-19th century. The form was extremely popular in the Qing Dynasty court and has become one of the cultural treasures of China. Major performances are based in Beijing, Southern Shanghai, Northern Tianjin, and Taiwan. It has also spread to other countries such as the United States and Japan. Political influences have long played a part in the arts of China (World Music, 187). The Taiwanese took on the Opera and made it into their own. Naming it Guoju, which means national, or the in other words the National Opera. This reflects disputes over the true seat of Chinese government. After the Chinese Civil War ended, Beijing opera became the focal point of ethnic identity for the Mainland and Communist party. When the Communist Party of China came to power in the Mainland, the newly formed government moved to bring art into line with Communist ideology. Their goal was to make art and literature a component of the revolution. Dramatic works without Communist themes were considered subversive, and were ultimately banned during the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976). Before Beijing opera evolved it was considered a......

Youtube Effect

...The YouTube Effect How a technology for teenagers became a force for political and economic change. BY MOISÉS NAÍM | DECEMBER 27, 2006 A video shows a single line of people slowly trudging up a snow-covered footpath. A shot is heard; the first person in line falls. A voice-over says, "They are shooting them like dogs." Another shot, and another body drops to the ground. A uniformed Chinese soldier fires his rifle again. Then, a group of soldiers examines the fallen bodies. These images were captured high in the Himalayas by a member of a mountaineering expedition who claims to have stumbled upon the killing. The video first aired on Romanian television, but it only gained worldwide attention when it was posted on YouTube, the popular video-sharing Web site. Human rights groups explained that the slain were a group of Tibetan refugees that included monks, women, and children. According to the Chinese government, the soldiers had fired in self-defense after they were attacked by 70 refugees. The posted video seems to render that explanation absurd. The U.S. ambassador to China quickly lodged a complaint protesting China’s treatment of the refugees. Welcome to the YouTube effect. It is the phenomenon whereby video clips, often produced by individuals acting on their own, are rapidly disseminated throughout the world thanks to video-sharing Web sites such as YouTube, Google Video, and others. Every month, YouTube receives 20 million visitors, who watch 100 million video......

...and maintaining long-term relationships, customer-focused objectives- such as satisfaction, retention, and loyalty-are being given greater importance. *Marketing Strategy (7th edition)—A Decision Focused Approach—Orville C. Walker Jr—Page 13 YouTube has been the most popular Internet video site over the past decade, attracting around a billion visitors monthly (Elias 2013). Because of the sites success, advertisers are willing to spend so that their names can be exposed to the vast majority of visitors. Even though YouTube is currently number 1 in the market for online video ads, rivals such as Facebook, AOL and Yahoo have been gaining more audiences at faster rates, while “strengthening their share of video ad dollars”. In addition, companies like Netflix and HBO are posed to be an even “bigger threat” as online users may start spending more time watching original series on those sites and less time on YouTube’s. From these issues, YouTube should introduce paid subscription offerings and original series to the site in order to diminish greater threat from rivaled video platforms. Introducing the choice of paid subscription to YouTube would be a great addition to the site, as it will allow YouTube to make money through a difference sources than just ad dollars. These types of subscriptions can feature ad-free videos and offline video storage on mobile devices, or lower priced subscriptions for “specific categories” (Newton 2015) like music or sports.......

Youtube in the Classroom

...Running head: YouTube in the Classroom YouTube in the Classroom: Helpful Tips and Student Perceptions Brandice Fillmore University of Houston- Victoria- EDUC 6310 YouTube in the Classroom- Helpful Tips and Student Perceptions In the YouTube article aptly titled YouTube in the Classroom: Helpful Tips and Student Perceptions: Authors Fleek, Beckham, Sterns, and Hussey clearly defined the rise of the popularity of YouTube in the classroom because of the dominance it has in the classroom. The significant research question is how much of a phenomenon YouTube truly is in the classroom. This particularly study is very pertinent due to the fact of the relevance YouTube has in the classrooms across America. The method of using the students brought it all into full focus because women and men naturally learn differently. The visual stimulation is more apparent in men than women and usage of YouTube aptly displays it. The blended learning theory forces us all see the special importance of YouTube. Garrison and Kanuka (2004) define blended learning as, “thoughtful integration of classroom face-to-face learning experience with online experiences. It is the true blending of technology in the rarest form. Some students learn better during the process such as blending learning. The method of using the female and male students from an urban gave the study the depth it sorely needed. The professor dealing with them face-to-face made the study very interesting due to the rate......
