Q1.
Asset turnover ratio shows relationship b/w revenue and assets. The firm with high asset turnover will have low profit margin and vice versa. This indicates the amount of sales generated from each dollar of assets. Companies in retail industry tend to have high turnover ratio due to competitive pricing -> retail of musical intruments – high ratio but as not high as supermarket which is highest.
Pharmacitical company
Steel company.
Q2.
A ratio of profitability calculated as net income divided by revenues, or net profits divided by sales. It measures how much out of every dollar of sales a company actually keeps in earnings.

Profit margin is very useful when comparing companies in similar industries. A higher profit margin indicates a more profitable company that has better control over its costs compared to its competitors. Profit margin is displayed as a percentage; a 20% profit margin, for example, means the company has a net income of $0.20 for each dollar of sales.

Looking at the earnings of a company often doesn't tell the entire story. Increased earnings are good, but an increase does not mean that the profit margin of a company is improving. For instance, if a company has costs that have increased at a greater rate than sales, it leads to a lower profit margin. This is an indication that costs need to be under better control.

Imagine a company has a net income of $10 million from sales of $100 million, giving it a profit margin of 10% ($10 million/$100 million). If in the next year net income rises to $15 million on sales of $200 million, the company's profit margin would fall to 7.5%. So while the company increased its net income, it has done so with diminishing profit margins.

Q3.
Cash flows and company’s performance.
In business as in personal finance, cash flows are essential to solvency. They can be…...

Santander and Its Entrance Into the Uk Market

...Richard Whittington, 2008). i. Entry barrier for competing in this area is high because it is a capital intensive industry. ii. Achieving economies of scale is a factor for competing in the banking industry as it would require new entrants to compete on the same level of the other major players in the industry if they are to survive. iii. As seen from the case, Santander was able to gain entrance with a £9 billion acquisition of Abbey in 2004 which was at the time, Europe’s biggest cross-border banking deal and it already had experience in European retail banking which at the time, accounted for over half of its net income before the acquisition of Abbey. iv. As it is a highly contested market for customer base, the level of difficulty in entry is quite high because the market is already controlled by the major banks with strong brands like Barclays, LTSB, HSBC, HBOS and Royal Bank of Scotland and It would be quite difficult for beginners to convince customers to move from these already known and established brands. v. Santander was able to gain entrance into the market through the acquisition of Abbey which already had a strong customer base of 18 million and a well-known brand name. vi. It also had a competitive edge. Santander introduced Partenon, its successful core banking platform and this technology enabled Santander to perform a seamless integration, launch new products with minimal lead time. vii. Entry barrier into the corporate......

Quantitative Easing: Entrance and Exit Strategies

...Quantitative Easing: Entrance and Exit Strategies by Alan S. Blinder, Princeton University CEPS Working Paper No. 204 March 2010 Acknowledgements: Paper prepared for the Homer Jones Memorial Lecture at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, April 1, 2010. I am grateful to Gauti Eggertsson, Todd Keister, Jamie McAndrews, Paul Mizen, John Taylor, Alexander Wolman, and Michael Woodford for extremely useful comments on an earlier draft, and to Princeton’s Center for Economic Policy Studies for research support. Apparently, it can happen here. On December 16, 2008, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), in an effort to fight what was shaping up to be the worst recession since 1937, reduced the federal funds rate to nearly zero. 1 From then on, with all of its conventional ammunition spent, the Federal Reserve was squarely in the brave new world of quantitative easing. Chairman Ben Bernanke tried to call the Fed’s new policies “credit easing,” probably to differentiate them from what the Bank of Japan had done earlier in the decade, but the label did not stick. 2 Roughly speaking, quantitative easing refers to changes in the composition and/or size of the central bank’s balance sheet that are designed to ease liquidity and/or credit conditions. Presumably, reversing these policies constitutes “quantitative tightening,” but nobody seems to use that terminology. The discussion refers instead to the “exit strategy,” indicating that quantitative easing (“QE”) is looked upon......

Ryanair Case Entrance Strategy Analysis

...Yahuan Chen Przemysław Czerklewicz Concepción Rodríguez Vázquez Emre Vatansever Haojun Zhu Ryanair: brief analysis of its entrance strategy. As we all know, from the perspective of time, Ryanair entrance to British market was only just a beginning of its story of success and its path to an incredible leadership. This, however, was not that clear if we consider the company’s situation in the very moment when it all started. In this brief work we will try to analyze Ryanair’s strategy, disposing only of the data that was available to the company back then and we will try to estimate if this strategy is going to be successful. In order to do that we will describe the industry using Porter’s five forces and generic strategies framework. Industry examination: Suppliers: The importance of suppliers in this industry is huge due to a limited number of possible solutions that in some cases is close to a monopoly. Main suppliers are fuel and oil providers, unions of staff and pilots, airports, companies that lease aircrafts and specialized personnel like technicians or engineers. Most of them are unique and work with major airlines and a small airline, operating in one connection has no power to negotiate any conditions. The only way for an airline to dispose its self of their influence is backwards integration. New entrants: Airline industry is a particular case in which we can observe some really strong barriers of entry. On one hand, the cost of an air fleet, though planes can be......

Bond Hearings and Plea Entrance Observation

...Bond Hearings and a Plea Entrance; A Day’s Observation in the Circuit Court. Political Science 210 December 2, 2010 Political Science 210 December 2, 2010 Bond Hearings and a Plea Entrance; A Day’s Observation in the Circuit Court. On November 24, 2010, I was given the opportunity to observe a session of the Fairfax County Circuit Court. While observing the session I was able to view five bond hearings and one plea entrance, which allowed for a partial understanding of the typical daily court docket. Because many cases are settled outside of court, the daily proceedings within the courtroom are often shorter and without much argument. Fairfax County Virginia is located in the northeastern portion of Virginia nearby the District of Columbia. The county is the largest by population in the state, and also the densest county at 1,037,605 people within the county’s 407 square miles. Home to several intelligence agencies, and half of the metropolitan area’s Fortune 500 companies, Fairfax county has one of the highest median incomes in the country for a county of its size, second only to neighboring Loudoun County. The county was the first in the nation to reach a six figure median income and is known as one of the most populous areas in the Greater Washington Metropolitan Areas. The Fairfax County Circuit court, located in Fairfax City, is used to serve the residents of both the county and the city itself. The court is in the 19th......

Advantage and Disadvantage of Entrance Exams to

...Advantage and disadvantage of entrance exams to universities in China and US As we all know, students who want to go to college must take exams which are called “entrance exams to Universities”. College entrance exams are considered to be the unique approach that the students are admitted by the colleges, and a significant factor that determines a student’s future development. They’re even regarded as one of the turning points in their lives. The similarity of the college entrance exams in China and that in the Western countries is that they are both the ways of selecting students for the colleges. Well, it's a must door for all the Chinese senior students to the higher education. It may be considered to be too exam-oriented, or too narrow and strict to the students, however it has last for decades. It is actually useful in choosing talented people. To take an even spectacular example, in order to get a good result, students must be hard working, considerable, insistent and knowledgeable, and these, are just what the society needs. In total, everything exists has a reason. I think the exam is workable in some way, but can still be improved. In China, more than half students take exams on June 17th and 18th, in China. In that day, many students march in the classroom to wait for the examinations. Whatever the weather is hot, they full of confidence and stress to write down their answers. Even though they are ill and cannot give up the test, for they cannot live up to...

Correlation of Entrance Test and Scholastic Performance (Gpa) of Grade 7 Students

...Introduction Entrance to Grade 7 is determined by examination. This is to identify students’ readiness in high school education. The result of the test is formative factor whether the student is accepted or not from which student seeks admission. Schools may decide to use standardized test which may be purchased from testing companies or they can use validated teacher-made test. The NSDAPS uses teacher-made test for grade 7 student applicants who are from public schools nearby. It is composed of English, Mathematics and Science Test. According to Hakkinen (2004) admission rules should be designed to help in achieving education policy goals and they should be comprehensible, stable, fair, cost-effective and legitimate. Student quality is also of direct economic interest and universities are interested in predicting the academic achievement of the students in deciding which applicants are to admit. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the result of the entrance test and scholastic performance (GPA) of grade 7 students. According to Flejoles & Depamaylo (2011), the academic readiness of a student in college is seen to be contributed by his or her basic education. Likewise, high school students’ readiness is important towards their success in high school. This school year, the NSDAPS makes it sure that its programs really attend to the learners concerns particularly in admission strategies and programs instruction. Review of Related Studies ...

College Entrance Essay

...Webster University Entrance Essay: I have always thought nurses are among the most intelligent people there are, and I want to be one of them. I believe the laity does not realize the amount of education required to ascertain employment as a registered nurse or the continuing education required to maintain such employment. One of my missions is to assist front line nurses demonstrate their, hard earned, knowledge to the clients they serve. Nurses need all the encouragement and support possible in order to maintain the stamina required to carry out their wide variety of daily duties, and I want to be a source of such encouragement and support. Nurses must receive continuous education in order to stay abreast of ever changing practices, and I want to be a catalyst of such education. I am convinced that earning a Master of Science in Nursing at Webster University is my key to attaining these goals. I expected each step of my nursing education would be my last. Employment as a nursing assistant after high school graduation was just a means to pay for a special education teaching degree. Certification nursing assistant class was just a way to keep my job. Eleven years later, a practical nursing license was a means to earn enough money to allow this single parent to support my toddling twin daughters. Seven years later, the Associate Degree in Nursing was a scheme to convert from long-term care nursing to acute care nursing. Ten years later, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree......

Entrance Essay

...I have been pursuing my nursing degree for over 20 years, and throughout my journey I have had to overcome many obstacles. I took a small fourteen year leave of absence to raise my children, moved around the United States several times, and have had to overcome many personal setbacks. But I have always maintained the same plan to accomplish my short term and long term educational and professional goals. I have very specific educational and professional goals. My first goal will be accomplished May 8, 2008, when I graduate from Austin Community College with my associate nursing degree. After graduation I hope to work on a NICU, Labor and Delivery, or a Med/Surg. unit within the Seton Family. In January 2009, I plan on attending the online Associate to BSN program offered by the Texas Tech Health Science Center. Shortly after I obtain my BSN I will continue on to pursue my MSN. I will eventually be certified in one of the previously mentioned specialty units, and will use my MSN degree to be an educator within the Seton Family of Hospials and/or the local area colleges. All of this will be accomplished while working and attempting to further my career with Seton. I believe God, my determination, and Seton will help me accomplish my goals. My first clinical rotation in nursing school was at Seton Medical Center, and I never left. The moment I stepped onto the 6th floor, I knew that I always wanted to be a part of the Seton Family. They were dedicated to each one...

Mba Entrance

...Two weeks after graduating high school, I arrived at Shocco Springs Baptist Conference Center to begin my first “real job” and experience the most pivotal summer of my life. While most of my friends frolicked on beaches enjoying their last summer before college, my ten hour workdays as a “Summer Staffer” consisted of scrubbing floors, cleaning toilets, preparing meals, cleaning dishes, hauling trash, and busing tables. While these duties yielded an education in how to survive a gritty physical environment, the most vital education I received was in how to survive a gritty social environment. My boss was fired for stealing, a direct co-worker was arrested for murder, and another co-worker stalked me. Various fellow staff members allowed these unexpected circumstances to distract them from their daily responsibilities, but I understood that Shocco guests still demanded our services. Rather than retreat from a back-breaking job amidst criminals, I daily maintained a laser-like focus on getting my job done despite feeling intimidated. Overcoming the intimidation brought forth two lessons that changed my life forever: life will always throw you curve balls and you must adapt to them, and secondly, there is no substitute for hard work. These lessons prepared me for the real world and greatly motivated me to obtain a higher education. Upon graduating from the University of Alabama, I had a unique professional and personal opportunity to move to San Diego. Professionally, I became...
