...away, he sold papers and shoveled coal, then he played music and sang to make a living. His career really started when he was seventeen. He played in dive bars until the 1920s when he left New Orleans and played in St. Louis where he joined Joe Oliver and his band. This is one of my favorite songs by him and I know that it’s a crowd favorite for all. I’ll let Louis Armstrong introduce this song himself, here’s What a Wonderful World. What a Wonderful World http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nGKqH26xlg&feature=related That song is a classic and it has been redone by many different artists. This is still my favorite version of this song and I hope you all liked it as well. The way he sings his songs puts chills through my bones and it shows he can not only play a trumpet but he can sing with such emotion that you feel what he feels. The next artist I have for you to listen to is Miles Davis. He was born in Alton, Illinois. His father was a dentist. His mother wanted him to learn how to play the piano; she was a capable blues pianist but kept the fact hidden from her son. Another interesting thing about Davis is that when he was a boy his family owned a ranch in northern Arkansas where he learned how to ride horses. He began studying music when he was thirteen years old. By sixteen he was a member of the music society and played professionally when he wasn’t in school. After high school he was accepted into Julliard School of Music in New York. He dropped out of Julliard......

The Tebow Show

...The Tebow Show: New Drama in NYC This upcoming NFL season promises to be one of the more entertaining years in the last decade. After the recent, and may I mention second, Superbowl victory by the New York Giants over the Patriots, the stage is set for more drama in New York. With the recent acquisition of Tim Tebow, and all the baggage that comes with him, the Jets may have just stirred up the hornet’s nest. Last year in Denver, Tebow started most of the season after a sluggish start by Kyle Orton, and because he was demanded by the fans. He went on to win eight games in a row using some impressive fourth quarter heroics. Unfortunately for young Timmy, his head coach John Fox, and former Bronco quarterback John Elway, never came around. During the off season, Tebow was traded to the New York Jets just after Denver acquired Peyton Manning. So, was this a good move for New York? In a place where fans are simply unforgiving, as a head coach, wouldn’t you want as much stability as possible? Speaking from personal experience, I know head coaches want as much consistency as possible in every position, but even more so in a quarterback. As any fan who watched ESPN or either of Chief – Bronco games last season can attest to, Tim is not exactly the poster child for consistency. Going 6-22 for 60 yards one game, and then 10-21 for 316 yards and 2 TDs (one being the dramatic game-winner in OT against the Steelers), are not the numbers coaches want to......

Apo Show

...Donovan Pogue Beginning Acting Mr. Kontos 12/10/12 “APO SHOW” Out of all the plays, I think this was by far the best one to me, just because of the different mini plays, and the comedy that came from them all. The first show I would like to discuss would be “Sure Thing”. I really enjoyed this one. This play was mostly about this guy trying to pursue this woman, and he starts off badly a few times so a bell is rung for him to begin again. This one had a lot of humorous moments in it. They were both very funny, especially the guy. I think they had a mutual like towards each other and it led them to go on a date to the movies. In the end, what he was trying to pursue, he finally got, but it just wasn’t the right timing for him in when her first attempted to ask her on a date. He also had to change up his conversation so it could be more respectable to the girl Betty. The second play was not as exciting as the first. I do not think it was as funny as the first one also because it was not as exciting to watch also. It involved one character, which was Mitch, he was talking to the crowd about a type writer, but comes to the conclusion that he is a typewriter himself, In this play he is trying to pursue something himself also, but I feel like he doesn’t know how to pursue this certain something. This something turns out to be a piece of paper, and in the end he exchanges names with this piece of paper. The difference between this play and that play is that he wasn’t trying...

A Cooking Show

...What is Cooking Show? A TV cooking show is a television program that presents the preparation of food, in a kitchen on the studio set. The host of the show, often a celebrity chef, prepares one or more dishes over the course of the show, taking the viewing audience through the food's preparation showing all intermediate stages of cooking. These shows are often intended to be at least partly educational, as the host teaches the viewing audience how to prepare different meals with each episode of the show; though some cooking shows (such asIron Chef or "Junior Masterchef") are intended simply for entertainment. Reality Shows

...Reality Shows Are reality shows completely real or not? According to the Free Online Dictionary, “reality show” is “a television show in which members of the public or celebrities are filmed living their everyday lives or undertaking specific challenges.” Nowadays, most TV programmes are reality shows in which different people show how they live their lives. In some cases, these programmes are created to show how great or how miserable people’s lives are, and so catch the viewers’ attention. This essay aims to discuss whether reality shows are more real than other programmes on TV or not. On the one hand, as the people in reality shows are not actors or actresses, viewers may identify with them. These shows are based on people’s real lives, so their aim is to show the problems or plans that these people have to face every day of their lives without acting it out. Most of these problems are problems that any person could have, so it is easier to the viewers to identify and continue watching reality shows. Moreover, viewers, by watching these shows, may find solutions to their own problems, which are similar to the ones on the reality show. On the other hand, even though reality shows are not scripted, the situations shown in these programmes are deliberated selected to make people watch them. Producers carefully select and sometimes create situations that may interest the viewers. As a consequence, viewers might find that people in reality shows have exciting lives and......

Tv Show

...typical radio game show, which asks listeners to provide questions to the experts to answer lively and could win five dollars for the questions being used, ten more dollars if the experts don’t answer correctly. After listening to the mp3 of the 1939 episode, I find the range of the types of questions is so wide that there are all kinds of difficult and unfamiliar but very interesting questions. For example, there is one question that asks the experts to come up with the last name of some famous people from their first and middle name, and to my surprise, the experts got three names right out of four, which is so amazing. What’s more, there is another question that asks the experts to say the adjectives of some nouns, which include several unfamiliar pairs, like the adjective of “aunt” is “amita” and no expert knows the answer. Also, there are questions about recognizing the music pieces and current news on the newspapers. Most of the time, the host and the experts try to make the show fun instead of just telling the answers, which won’t let the listeners feel boring. The wide range of the questions not only can attract different kinds listeners, but also make the listeners learn about some unfamiliar knowledge. Both of these ensure listeners learn and have fun at the same time, that’s why game show gets so popular. The show also has its own way of making money. Its sponsor, Canada Dry, pays the prize to listeners and on the other hand, in the middle of the show, there is a......

Show Planning

...Organizers You can be the sole show organizer or it can be a joint venture with another group. Whichever way you decide to go, there is a lot of face-to-face coordination involved. Also, it may be inconvenient to get everybody to together at a meeting on the same day. But you will need to make sure that everybody knows what’s going on and be reminded of their role and responsibilities. You’re probably wondering how to accomplish that because coordinating people is a major feat itself. Here’s where Atlanta Antique Car Club comes in with those hard-to-find resources. We recommend staying in contact with helloWorld – Video e-Mail. It is easy, affordable and so much better than phoning. The Event Plan a car show with a fun and festive atmosphere for the whole family. Plan a luxury and performance car and bike event dedicated to the automobile industry – featuring the best possible cars, motorcycles, limousines, customs, and art cars available because this is the “attraction”. Varying your selection of automobiles and automotive products is what will give your show the extravagant factor and take it over the top. The Venue Location, location, location. This is where your show will go down in history. Because of the nature of your event, selecting a venue that is unique is very important. It must have an acceptable floor plan to accommodate a large crowd, registration, bathrooms, many exhibitors and vendors, and ample parking spaces for visitors and show car trailers.......

Fashion Show

...“Fashion Show” A fashion show is an event put on by a fashion designer to showcase his or her upcoming line of clothing during Fashion Week. Fashion shows debut every season, particularly the Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter seasons. This is where the latest fashion trends are made. In a typical fashion show, models walk the catwalk dressed in the clothing created by the designer. Occasionally, fashion shows take the form of installations, where the models are static, standing or sitting in a constructed environment. The order in which each model walks out wearing a specific outfit is usually planned in accordance to the statement that the designer wants to make about his or her collection. It is then up to the audience to not only try to understand what the designer is trying to say by the way the collection is being presented, but to also visually deconstruct each outfit and try to appreciate the detail and craftsmanship of every single piece. A wide range of contemporary designers tend to produce their shows as theatrical productions with elaborate sets and added elements such as live music or a variety of technological components like holograms, for example. Types of Fashion Shows 1. Ready-to-Wear Ready-to-wear shows feature more practical, down-to-earth looks that the mainstream population might want to buy. Many middle-class name brand retailers draw inspiration from the ready-to-wear looks of high-end designers, including Gucci,......

The Business of Show

...Running head: MANAGEMENT IN MY WORKPLACE 1 Show Business: The Business of Show Michael Milton MGT 330 Management for Organizations Robert Armbrust August 3, 2015 MANAGEMENT IN MY WORKPLACE 2 Show Business: The Business of Show Because my job in the performing arts is not like most other occupations it can sometimes be difficult for people to compare it to other businesses in terms of standard structure and management practice. However, it is called Show Business for a reason, and that is because it is the Business of Show. Any successful business must have a well organized management system in place, and even though it may seem different at first glance there are many standard management practices utilized in Show Business just like any other. Management organization within a company in Show Business takes planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling functions to provide a quality production and ensure audience satisfaction. Planning The company I work for is called ‘NETworks Presentations’, and they are a company that produces Broadway tours. NETworks required extensive planning to become one of the largest producers of Broadway tours in the United States. Planning is a systematic process in which managers make decisions about future activities and the key goals that the organization intends to pursue (Baack, Reilly, and Minnick 2014). Further more, according to Baack et al. (2014), “business organizations are founded with a......

Show

...The article “Business is Show Business: Management Presentations as Performance” written by Brigitte Biehl-Missal is the result of a study done by the author from 2003 to 2009 of annual general meetings (AGM), press conferences and analyst meetings. The purpose of this study was to compare and contrast these types of organizational meetings/communications with the theatre and to understand more about how all of the elements that go into a meeting impact the final results and participants perception of the meeting. Important to note is how theatre techniques are used in performance situations to create experiences because “…aesthetic techniques increasingly are employed in organizations for controlling and influencing employee behaviors and external audiences.” At these major corporate functions, what could be considered unimportant details by some (lighting, colors, stage presence, and proximity to name a few) could influence the outcome of the meeting and help to determine whether the audience hears the intended message or takes away a completely different experience. This “theatre theory” discussed by Biehl-Missal focuses on elements that are typically thought to be part of dramatic activities such as scenography, lighting system and music, clothing, style of performing, and rhetoric. The article discusses how at AGMs, management can use a white spotlight on the speaker to give the impression of truth or trustworthiness. In contrast, management could cast the......

The Truman Show

...The Truman Show There are many different films and genres, but there is one film that both provides a different outlook and is entertaining at the same time. The Truman Show is a movie that is about a man named Truman Burbank whose entire life was televised and set up since birth without his knowledge, which eventually realizes due to a series of events. This TV show was created by a man named Christof, who is in charge of Truman’s life, the actors around him and the enclosed city he built for Truman, called Seahaven. The Truman Show is a good film because of the psychological effect by the idea of the film, the difference between the real world and a perfect world, and the many religious connotations with it and allusions to God. One way this movie psychologically affects our perspective and helps us become a bit more aware because the movie shows Truman Burbank as a normal, regular person whose life was completely setup by a director. Similarly, humans were placed on this earth so perfectly, that everything feels normal with no sign of suspicion that could alter the vision of life. This movie also brings a sense of paranoia, by feeling watched at all times and to confuse the people in one’s life as actors, just like in the movie. Of course, those are just the temporary effects of watching such a movie, as with any other movie that alters the thought process. It seems as if the creator of the show, Christof, really wanted to prove that the world he created is safe and......
