The Problem and Its Background

This section discusses the background of the thesis research entitled. “--”. The general and specific problems, significance of the study, scope and limitation, the framework of the study, and definition of terms used are presented here

I. Introduction
Fan fiction also known as, fanfiction, fanfic, FF, or fic is a defined term for fan labor about stories of characters or simply fictional characters and settings written by fans of the original work, rather than by the original creator. Works of fan fiction are rarely commissioned or approved by the original work's owner, creator, or publisher; also, they are almost never professionally published. Because of this, many fanfics written often contain a disclaimer stating that the creator of the fanfic owns none of the characters. Fan fiction, therefore, is defined by being both related to its subject's canonical fictional universe and simultaneously existing outside the canon of that universe. Most fan fiction writers assume that their work is read primarily by other fans, and therefore tend to presume that their readers have knowledge of the canon universe (created by a professional writer) in which their works are based.

Fan fiction, as the name suggests are works of fiction created by fans. Ranging from books to movies, eager aficionados re-create scenes and plots to fit their own fancy. While seemingly trite to some critics, the fan fiction community is a large and supportive arena which offers feedback and help for these persons who are yet unable to fly free. The cushion of already established characters and settings offers a sense of bravery as the groundwork for each story has already been started.

Fan fiction can be classified as a novel and film or video clip that was made out of different movie series to make a new short clip which is used as a form of…...

...A Thousand Years Foreword: DaeHyun As I watch my son finish his piano piece and hear all the cheers around after he played, I can't help but smile. My son is strong, after all the struggles we've been through. My son keeps on dreaming; he never fails to give me hope. "Dad, did you see that?! I didn't screw up! I did well!" DaeYeol said as he hugged me. If only MinAh could witness how his son played, she may be in tears because of happiness. She was the one who taught him how to play after all. “You did well? My son did great!” I carried him and asked him where he wants to eat. “Take me to the steak house Dad. I miss the three of us eating there.” “And let’s go to the flower shop later before we visit Mom.” It’s been three months and she’s still sleeping. After a month of coma, YongGuk asked me if I want to remove her life support and I honestly want to say yes. Ever since the accident, I find it hard to look at her used-to-be full of life face. I can feel her pain; each and every day feels like years of waiting. “I’m just giving you an option DaeHyun. I’m not forcing if you don’t want to.” YongGuk said apologetically. Just then when I’m about to clarify the details about MinAh’s situation, DaeYeol ran towards me panting, “Mom just held my hand! She held my hand Dad! Mom is awake!” We ran to her room and YongGuk summoned some nurses to check MinAh. It was false alarm. He said that a person in such state can still feel, they can’t just......

...it in the form of a Character Filibuster while Commissioner Dolan cautiously eyes the massive speech balloon that engulfs the panel. Scott McCloud demonstrated the disadvantage of it in a strip about an Upper-Class Twit: At first, he's enjoyed about making the Best Party Ever; then he gets confused about what the friend of him said; then he's shocked because said friend can't come to the party; then he's sad because the party is nothing without him. In one panel, you simply cannot demonstrate four different feelings; break it up, and it works.      Comic Strip  Cathy had this on occasion.     Fanfiction  Too many examples to count. Many authors appear to have a deep seated hatred of the enter key, and have sworn a blood oath to end its "tyranny". At the Official Fanfiction Academy of Starfleet, some of the classrooms have literal Text Walls. (Recycled from the students' fanfics.)     Films — Live-Action  The opening crawl of Alone In The Dark 2005. In the documentary Crumb, Robert Crumb flips through his brother's old amateur comics to show the brother's mental breakdown. With each page, the drawings become more and more pushed back by larger and larger bubbles crammed with text, until finally the drawings are discarded and Crumb is just flipping through page after page of microscopic text. It's quite creepy.     Literature  Works from the eighteenth......

Why Draco Malfoy Is a Great Antagonist

...Abstract: I was inspired to write this piece after reading too many fanfictions that start out great about the years right after the war, and then become unenjoyable as soon as they mention something about how Draco and the Malfoys are living terrible lives or plotting the rise of the next "Dark Lord." I feel like these people have completely missed Rowling's point in creating such a rich and deep antagonist in the Harry Potter series. Personally, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are the least likable characters in the series, because they were the hardest to relate to. They were too simple. Sure, they had some decisions to make, but really, all along, we knew they were the "good" guys and there was never any doubt as to whether they could be "bad." The major decision of the series, whether to be for or against Voldemort, was already made for them. Hermione was Muggle-born, Ron was from a family of well-known "blood traitors," and Harry's parents had been killed by Voldemort. For them, the only decision was whether they should react actively or passively to the threat Voldemort posed. Since they were all in Gryffindor, the outcome was already obvious. In real life, decisions are rarely so simple. This is where Draco Malfoy comes in. Book I: I'd like to think that if Harry hadn't so rudely rebuffed Malfoy's offer of friendship, perhaps Draco would never have become a Death Eater. Sure, Draco was very unpleasant because he sounded snobby and looked down on Hagrid that day......

...Sentence Outline Narrowed Down Topic: Fanfiction: A Creative Platform for Writers I. Introduction A. Introductory Device B. Thesis Statement People should have the liberty to write fanfiction, because it is an opportunity for enthusiastic writers to develop their writing abilities, it is an outlet for writers to explore endless possibilities in creating derived compositions, and lastly it is an activity to simply enjoy oneself considering it is a non-profit activity that brings forth intercommunication within a certain fandom, though sometimes fanfiction may affect an author’s capability to produce their own stories. II. Background A. Morrison (2012) states in The Guardian that fanfiction officially started, in the modern times, during the mid 50’s and 60’s with the growth of television expanding, more people wanted to create what-if stories with their favourite characters through writing. B. According to Schaffner (2009), fanfiction are stories ripped off from other people's work, so fanfiction is a free form, innovatory or derivative textual work that fanfiction practitioners publish online. C. Alter (2012) writes in her article that fan fiction is still a sensitive subject for writers and publishers; while some see it as free marketing and others regard it as a derivative dreck at best and copyright infringement at worst. III. Body A. Writing fanfiction is an opportunity for enthusiastic writers to develop their writing abilities. 1.) Buroker (2013) an......

...with digital (or e-books) and audio books can enrich a user’s learning experience by engaging them in the content in multisensory ways (e.g., reading and listening at the same time, reading along while the e-book highlights each word). Sadly and too often, thousands of children who struggle with reading because of a print disability such as dyslexia do not receive access to resources that may help them enjoy reading. Author and fan websites. Young readers like know more “about the author” and the Internet is rich with resources produced both by the authors themselves, their publishers, and their fans. Want to know what’s next in a favorite series? Check the author’s page or blog. Want to read more about a favorite character? Check the “fanfiction” often written by other young readers. That popular new movie jsut might be based on a novel that's in the library, so media ties-ins are powerfully motivating. Clever librarians find ways of helping students easily locate these materials by pasting printed lists of websites or QR codes in the backs of books or by adding links as a part of the electronic bibliographic record in the catalog. 2. Sharing/social networking sites. Making reading a social activity no longer means just having a weekly book club meeting. Make sure older kids know about free websites like Shelfari, LibraryThing, and Goodreads. Biblionasium id great for younger readers. Suing the Sues

...battle against a giant army or evil villain arises. Rest assured, you wouldn’t be doing anything except watching her unjustifiably destroy every one of them, anyways. And don’t even get me started about fanfictions (a fanfiction is simply a story written about a pre-existing fictional series, by a fan of said series-they are usually uploaded to the internet for others to read). The most common place for a Mary Sue to pop up is in a fanfiction, and that is THE WORST THING. One of these stories consists of a rewrite of the entire main story, but with a Mary Sue. And this is terrible because the story often switches around to make her the main character, and everyone follows her around, and immediately loves her. If my story was invaded by some little girl who tried to take my place as main character, I’d be pissed. And it doesn’t matter if the main male character was originally with someone else-she gets him as her boyfriend anyways. A Mary Sue ruins a story by tainting it with her presence. She upstages any and every character in the original story, so that, once again, she does everything. The entire story is changed around to make room for Perfect McShinyhair and her annoyingly polite personality. And whoever the authors are that wrote these horrid girls in these fanfictions don’t know how to write. They riddle the story with spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and pointless descriptions of the Mary Sue’s clothing. I mean, it should be expected; it is the internet where......

...Prologue-Fifteen years ago Resisting the temptation to look back at their beloved home burning up in flames, a couple ran as fast as they could, away from their pursuers behind them. With tears falling uncontrollably from her eyes, the woman clutch the screaming infant in her arms tighter against her chest, all the while whispering sweet nothings into the infant's ear, trying to calm her down. While at her side, her husband kept murmuring to himself, "We will get through this. We will pay them back for what they did to us and take back what was belong to us." After running for a while, they managed to get rid of their pursuers and rest at an inn nearby. They put their belongings down and were horrified to find out their daughter was running a high fever! "Ryuuki! Kagome is burning up! Come quick!" Haruka called to her husband. "I knew it! Her power is much too strong, it is killing her! Oh....What should we do? We can't call the doctor! They'd find us!" cried Haruka, panicking for her dear child. Ryuuki gently put a hand on her shoulder and said, "There is only one thing that we can do for her now...... And we must do it fast, we only have a few days before they caught our scent" Startled, Haruka snapped her head up in realisation. Tears falls as she slowly nodded. They had to seal her powers up, turning her into a normal human. However, this means that they cannot see each other again until the time is ripe. That is the curse of having to seal someone's power up as it...
