Grizzly Bear Diets

The grizzly bear is a subspecies of the brown bear; which generally lives in the uplands of western North America which crossed to Alaska from eastern Russia 100,000 years ago. In 1815, the grizzly formally got his name due to the color of its grizzled grey fur. Biologist John Muir once said that these bears “eat everything but granite.” The eating habits of these bears are pretty extreme and are known to be quite the scavengers. Food sources vary in availability from year to year, and from season to season. Grizzlies move throughout their habitat looking for foods available at that time of year. The availability of many foods is known to the bears by
Season and the bears move to these areas based on their experience. In this way, the general seasonal distribution. The three main seasons in which grizzly bears have an extensive diet are Spring, Summer, and Fall (Grizzly Bears).
From late March to May, Grizzlies arise from their dens, when adolescent vegetation begins to grow. Within early spring, bears move to lower terrain, away from the snow, to feed on this vegetation. Common spring food sources include ants, grasses, dandelion, clover, and other plants. The Grizzly diet consists with a significant amount of ungulate or hooved animals like elk and bison. Grizzly bears also dig up caches of nuts and pine seeds, stashed by pocket gophers and red squirrels from the previous fall. These inspiring giants tend to be solitary animals but at times they do congregate. Dramatic gatherings of grizzly bears can be seen at prime Alaskan fishing spots when the salmon swim upstream for summer spawning. Dozens of bears may gather to feast on the fish, craving fats that will sustain them all the way into winter (U.S Fish and Wildlife Service).
When summer hits, Grizzly bears continue to fill up on dug up…...

...Introduction: Insulin resistance is associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), cardiovascular disease (CVD), both independently and in association with the metabolic syndrome. Impaired insulin sensitivity has been documented in those known to be at risk for diabetes, such as normoglycemic first-degree relatives of people of T2DM, and women with history of gestational diabetes. Although present in most people who developed T2DM, insulin resistance is generally present for many years before changes in blood glucose concentrations are evident. Despite possible influences from genetic and perinatal factors, diet and physical activity are likely to have greater and overriding influence in generation of the metabolic syndrome and T2DM. Dietary intakes of vegetable fat, polyunsaturated fatty acid, dietary fiber (particularly cereal fiber), magnesium, and caffeine are significantly inversely correlated and intakes of trans fatty acid and heme-iron, glycemic index, and glycemic load are significantly positively correlated with the incidence of type 2 diabetes (Murakami K et al J Nutr Sci Vitaminol (Tokyo) 2005; 51:292-310). Studies have shown a significantly decreased risk for T2DM with the higher consumption of grain (particularly whole grain), and significantly increased risk with processed meat consumption (J Nutr Sci Vitaminol (Tokyo) 2005; 51:292-310). Increased obesity is associated with insulin resistance. Other important factors contributing to insulin resistance......

...Natural Weight Loss and Diet Pills Taking diet pills could bring immediate results; however, eating healthy foods and exercising regularly is the best way to lose weight. The body can maintain its ideal weight when it is focused by a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle consists of eating nutritional foods as well as exercising regularly. Developing a new style of eating will show that food preferences will slowly change when high sugar and high fat snacks are cut out; cravings will go away in time. The body needs healthy food to function properly. Choosing foods from the four main food groups can be a guide for creating balanced and nutritional meals. By choosing to eat healthy, there is more room for enjoyment. Instead of the typical three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), a person can eat four to five small proportional meals each day. The weight gain and loss will be controlled as long as the person does their homework. Counting the calorie food intake is necessary to be sure that a person consumes 1,200 to 2,000 calories a day. Drinking six to eight glasses of water a day and a large glass of water with meals as well as after a meal can help control appetites and metabolize fat. The day should begin with a healthy breakfast. This consists of foods such as eggs, which contain protein, orange juice that has vitamin C, and one slice of toast to give the body fiber. To help with hunger building up, try eating about two snacks between meals. However, it is......

Grizzly Bears

...A special park?! Grizzly bears cannot be reintroduced to Idaho. But the can live in a special park. Then they would not be a danger for the people and the people will not be a danger for the bears. The grizzly bears are extinguishing. 50,000 grizzly bears used to live in America before European settlement. Today, however, only about 1,100 grizzly bears remain in scattered populations in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Washington. It is good that we are reintroduced to the grizzly bears. But the best way is to reintroduce them is in a special park. The bears should first survive in zoos, then it is easier to keep them alive in the wild. The zoo can work with different sorts of breeding programs. Through these breeding programs, the reproduction will be stimulated. That will have many benefits to increase the number of grizzly bears. Also the might die sooner in the wild. Another important reason to have a zoo is education. The education about nature and most important about the grizzly bears. Will be another way to introduce people to the bears. Also we can be a danger for them. We, as humans are very alienated from nature. The saying says: unknown, unloved. This means that we can be dangerous for bears. Just as we were in the 1940s. The bears could be eliminated again and could be shot at. This is the main reason to place a special zoo. If we would live in an ideal world, where animals still occur in large numbers and they would not be threatened by man. Then a...

...The Paleo Diet The Paleo Diet or Paleolithic Diet is referred to as the Caveman Diet, the Stone-age Diet, and the Hunter-Gatherer Diet. It is not about tearing chunks of meat off animals. It is about type of foods that are eaten. The Paleo Diet is the healthiest way a person can eat because it is the only nutritional approach that works to help stay lean, strong and energetic. Researchers indicate that the modern diet which is full of refined foods, trans fats and sugar cause diseases such as cancer, obesity, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and infertility. Scientific research studies show that diets rich in Omega-3 and Monounsaturated fats will reduce these diseases dramatically. Some of these foods include lean proteins for strong muscles and healthy bones and it satisfies hunger between meals. Fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants decrease the development of degenerative diseases. Also, healthy fats from nuts, seeds, olive oil and grass fed meats reduce these diseases (Wolf, 2014). The purpose of the Paleo Diet is to eat a low sugar diet to avoid inflammation. High sugar and high starchy foods turn into sugar and produces inflammation. Cells can absorb so much sugar before becoming inflamed and hormones control blood sugar so a person will not pass out (, 2014). The fact that the Paleo Diet delivers the best results is the fact that most people needs. It improves blood lipids, weight loss and reducing pain is......

The Bear

...Literary Analysis Essay (The Bear) Farce The author, Anton Chekov, wrote a drama titled “The Bear”, which took place in 1888 and 1893 in Popova’s living room. “The author used a literary element, farce. It means, a light humorous play in which the plot depends upon the development of character, humor of the type displayed in such works, foolish show; mockery; ridiculous sham; cookery, and finally forcemeat (Google Sites-Farce).” In the story, Smirnoff was being foolish, ridiculous, and using mockery towards Popova. Of course, Smirnoff didn’t know how to act towards women; he is just a “cookery, forcemeat sham ( Farce).” As Smirnoff said mockingly, “ I don’t believe this. It’s been seven months today since my husband has passed on, and I’m in a sad mood… And this doesn’t have to do with your husband. I have a mortgage to pay. Your Husband is dead (Chekhov, Anton 762-763).” He wrote about two people fighting over a mortgage and one was talking about being sad over her husband that died. Farce is about humorous plays, ridiculous behaviors. Also farce is a form of low comedy. “The contrast is focused on the characters actions, and comedy of manners. Comedy of manners means a comedy that the behavior is being made fun of in a particular social group, especially the upper classes ( term).” The events were a bit amusing and at the end it was romantic in a weird way. Also Popova and Smirnoff was in love with Popova because of her......

...Many diets have been developed to help people lose weight. However, many of these diets were developed without the input of dieticians or doctors, which makes them potentially dangerous. Understanding the pros and cons of a diet are vital to increasing the chances of success. One of the most popular diets in the last ten years is known as the South Beach diet, developed by Dr. Arthur Agatston. Unlike many competing diets, a famous cardiologist developed the South Beach diet. His medical training helped him develop a diet that follows medical guidelines and is not extremely dangerous if followed accurately. The diet requires the person to eat high-fiber, low-glycemic carbohydrates, unsaturated fats, and lean protein. His method categorizes carbohydrates and fats as good or bad, based on how much the food will affect weight. Unlike other diets, it does not restrict calorie intake. However, it does include an exercise program, which works to burn off existing calories. While many people promote the South Beach diet, it is not considered to be side effect free. The first stage of the diet aims for rapid weight loss by cutting water weight. The change in weight due to the loss of water can throw off the electrolyte balance and severely dehydrate the person. Other critics believe that the lack of dietary fiber, which is known to aid in weight loss, can have a negative affect on the body. Also, certain doctors believe that the glycemic index, on which the diet is based, is not...
