Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. I remember saying that when I was little because I was picked on for having a skin disorder which caused me to have white blotches on my face. I said that as a source of defense of the verbal attack. I find that language can hurt anyone; however, the severity of hurt is all dependent on the person and how sensitive they are. I am not that much of a sensitive person being that I have developed a tolerance for the opinions of others. To be successful, you have to take things with a grain of salt and keep it moving because if you dwell on the things people say, you will never progress unless you take what people say and make it benefit you for the better. With this statement, I neither agree nor disagree because words are something permanent. Yes, a broken bone may hurt, but the pain is temporary. Words stick to a person, especially if it is something with meaning. I grew up in the country and people would always try to knock me for going in the military and going to school. I even had people to tell me I was arrogant for doing so. I used the words from those people as my driving force to make myself a better person. Referencing to the book, language and gender is something that is very true. If you tell a woman she is fat over and over, more than likely, she will try to either lose the weight or conceal her body. If you call a man fat over and over, more than likely, he will think nothing about. As I stated in my opening paragraph, the severity in which words effect oneself is totally based on that persons’ sensitivity level and ability to let things go. I think people should take the negative words of people and build from it. It will not only make them a better person, but it will also build their self…...

Int Task1

...INT 1 Task 1 Part 1 How science has changed our view of the universe.  Up until the late 14th and early 15th centuries most early astronomers believed the sun, planets, and stars revolved around the earth.   Astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus published his book De revolutionibus orbium coelestium (On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres) right before his death in 1543.   It was based on a theory by Ptolemy a 2nd century AD Greek mathematician and astronomer . (Sheila, 2010) In it he worked out a heliocentric mathematical theory that suggested the earth rotated around the sun. Additional Advances have continued to change our understanding of the solar system ever since. (Sheila, 2010) Example 1: geocentric view  Greco-Roman mathematician and astronomer Ptolemy (c. AD 90 – c. AD 168) believed the movements of the sun, stars, and planets could be explained mathmatically.  He created a set of astronomical tables which he called his Handy Tables which allowed astronomers to calculate the positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets. It also allowed astronomers to predict eclipses. (Gribben, J.)  He believed the universe was geocentric meaning the universe revolved around the Earth.  This view would with some minor changes hold until Copernicus published his theories in 1543. Example 2: A heliocentric view  In 1543 Nicolaus Copernicus published his book On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres. (Sheila,......

Int Task 1

...INT Task 3, 4-25-2015 Popcorn Experiment Lakshmi Prakash Project Design Plan Popcorn is a popular treat for individuals. It is made up of dried corn kernels that have the ability to pop when activated by heat, yielding a soft, but crunchy snack. Popcorn can be made over the stove or in a microwavable bag. When the corn kernel is brought to a heat temperature of a boiling point, steam is formed from the water inside the kernel, this causes an intense pressure inside the kernel. Because the outside of the kernel is strong, it’s able to hold and capture the steam inside, which then quickly explodes and turns inside out. This is where we get the soft, but crunchy snack. Literature Review There are many brands of popcorn readily available at the grocery stores. There have been quite a few experiments done to test which one is the best in terms of producing the most amount of popped kernels. Sean Boyd did an experiment, titled “The Jawbreakers of the Popcorn Industry,” where he tested a total of 5 different brands of popcorn to see which one would produce the most kernels. He performed the experiment 3 times on each brand and it was successful. His hypothesis was incorrect, but it yielded an answer that Oroville popcorn was not the best popcorn, but that another brand was. I am using a similar method in my experiment, but based on his results I did not choose Oroville to be the leading popcorn brand (Boyd). Barbara Bolz wrote an article as to why......

Int Diversity Paper

...Jake Nice 5/1/15 Final Paper INT 202 Diversity can be looked upon in many different aspects, such as; religion, demographics, and even in the professional world. People in the work world are categorized by company worker, managers, and all the way up to the top dogs being the owners, CEOs, CFOs, etc. All of us are different in the world but there are also a lot or similarities between us. My first diversity paper was about how people live their lives daily and how they are diverse from others everyday lives. Although that is a form a diversity, I want to look deeper into diversity and how it builds the world we live in today. Diversity is all around us. In the towns and cities we live in, in our workplace, in our schools and even in our military. I believe that becoming diverse in these types of places makes for a better community and a better understanding of the world. Most towns in this country have many choices of dining to choice from. There is usually a range of restaurants from American Cuisine, Italian, Mexican, and Asian. This is an example of how towns and cities prove to be diverse. Not everyone fully respects all the religions in the world and this is sad because it truly brings society down. Racism and just pour misunderstanding of other ways of life is the ignorance that we live in here in America. This is sad because everyone is equal under God regardless of your race, age, gender, height, weight, color, etc. This class has taught me too appreciate all...

...Riordan Service Request Section 1 Joel Prentice BSA 375 Myrna Bravo 03/07/2016 Riordan Service Request Riordan manufacturing has requested help integrating the company's existing HR tools into a single application for all of their locations to use. This section will cover several topics. These topics include key stakeholders and their requirements for the new system, information gathering techniques, systems analysis tools, and an explanation of the project scope. Key Stakeholders Information about the system requirements should be gathered from Hugh McCauley the COO of Riordan manufacturing since he is the one that placed service request. The Director of Human Resources, Yvonne McMillan, should also be consulted. Any employees that regularly use the current system should be asked to contribute to information gathering. Each use case should have a priority level (low, medium, high), essential use cases should have a high priority. High priority levels will be implemented in the early versions of the new system, to ensure their stability, while gradually working down to the lower priority systems in later versions.
