Art. 12. Statement of objectives. It is the policy of the State: 1. To promote and maintain a state of full employment through improved manpower training, allocation and utilization; 2. To protect every citizen desiring to work locally or overseas by securing for him the best possible terms and conditions of employment; 3. To facilitate a free choice of available employment by persons seeking work in conformity with the national interest; 4. To facilitate and regulate the movement of workers in conformity with the national interest; 5. To regulate the employment of aliens, including the establishment of a registration and/or work permit system; 6. To strengthen the network of public employment offices and rationalize the participation of the private sector in the recruitment and placement of workers, locally and overseas, to serve national development objectives; 7. To insure careful selection of Filipino workers for overseas employment in order to protect the good name of the Philippines abroad.

Art. 13. Definitions. 1. "Worker" means any member of the labor force, whether employed or unemployed. 2. "Recruitment and placement" refers to any act of canvassing, enlisting, contracting, transporting, utilizing, hiring or procuring workers, and includes referrals, contract services, promising or advertising for employment, locally or abroad, whether for profit or not: Provided, That any person or entity which, in any manner, offers or promises for a fee, employment to two or more persons shall be deemed engaged in recruitment and placement. 3. Chapter I GENERAL PROVISIONS Article 1. Scope of regulation The Labor Code specifies the labor standards; the rights, obligations and responsibilities of the employees, the employers, the labor representative organizations, the employer representative organizations in the labor relation and other relations directly related to the labor relation, the State management of labor. ..."The code of the streets is actually a cultural adaptation to a profound lack of faith in the police and the judicial system. The police are most often seen as representing the dominant white society and not caring to protect inner- city residents. When called, they may not respond, which is one reason many residents feel they must be prepared to take extraordinary measures to defend themselves and their loved ones against those who are inclined to aggression. Lack of police accountability has in fact been incorporated into the status system: the person who is believed capable of "taking care of himself" is accorded a certain deference, which translates into a sense of physical and psychological control. Thus the street code emerges where the influence of the police ends and personal responsibility for one's safety is felt to begin. Exacerbated by the proliferation of drugs and easy access to guns, this volatile situation results in the ability of the street oriented minority (or those who effectively "go for bad") to dominate the public spaces." The author makes you realize that all Superman has ever really wanted was the things that us non superhero’s take for granted. Before finishing the book we were discussing what our final labors would be in class. ...workforce from families, and it even got as bad as it was common to see kids working to help their families make ends meet. Kids and women usually worked longer hours at an even lesser pay then the men. Tensions caused by these conditions inevitably reached the boiling point, and the first labor conflict to come to national attention occurred in 1877, when railroad workers went on strike and froze most of the country’s train traffic. This was huge. The railroad was the life blood of travel and the way American moved good and supplies at the time. The panic of 1873 caused for wage cuts even though the railroad was still expanding. The intervention of the American government only made things worse, especially when the government used the National Guard to break up strikers. This just caused more anger and violence. In St. Louis, striking railroad workers were joined by all other industrial workers in the city, shutting down all manufacturing establishments for four days. The city’s industry was at a standstill. The crazy thing is the strikers were defeated by the National Guard and their leaders were put in jail. The works took pay cuts. Though the workers in the end lost their fight bought the issue of labor activism into the national consciousness. It’s amazing that these people stood up so strong for something they believed in for their rights for what was fair and they lost and people lost their lives. ...Anna Chichba November 16, 2014 Labor code of Russian Federation    The Russian Labor Code forms the basis of labor relations in Russia and outlines the rights of employees. The new Labor Code was adopted effective 1 February 2002. An employment contract (trudovye dogovory / трудовые договоры) for any type of employment (full-time, part-time, temporary or permanent) must always be in writing, with two original copies signed by both parties, and one kept by each party. If in exceptional cases a company admits an employee without a written contract, a contract should be prepared and signed within three days of admission. They differ from unions in some industries in that that are craft unions; there are separate unions for pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, and the like. This has led to a multitude of recognize airline unions, making labor relations for airlines a particularly complicated endeavor that may require dozens of separate labor contracts. Airline Unions and Collective Bargaining: A Brief History In 1934, the National Labor Relations Board introduced industry-wide bargaining to the airline industry. The most significant development, though, came in 1936 when the airline industry was included under the Railway Labor Act. The Act put in place standardized procedures for collective bargaining, including procedures for developing labor contracts and mediating grievances. Under the Railway Labor Act, collective bargaining in the airline industry was placed under the oversight of the federal government through the National Mediation Board (Wensveen, 2011).
