Having a learning team to accomplish a large project is very challenging especially if the learning team has just formed. Each member of the team has personalities, emotions, and attitudes which can be different from other members. On this paper, my objective is to create a plan in which I can influence positively my members of the team to accomplish a common goal. Therefore, the team must achieve the goal by working together as a group to become successful.
Learning Team A is comprised of four individuals with different backgrounds, education, and job experience. We all possess varying interests and values. My personality may be different from the others. After completing my Dominance Influence Steadiness Conscientiousness (DISC) assessment, the result of my assessment came out to be “cautious” which I thought is kind of accurate. The main objective of the DISC assessment is to determine individual behavior types, and define how to interpret other people’s behavior. Its purpose is useful to be able to communicate effective, and establish a productive relationship. The two other assessments were…….
Based on the results of the assessments, the team should discuss their individual strengths and weaknesses associated with working with others. Each member should disclose their variations in personalities, attitudes, emotions, and values that have been determined. This information is resourceful to effectively implement these differences positively to the team. In order to increase motivation, setting goals will allow each individual an objective. Setting goals allows employees or group members to produce higher levels of output and an increase in performance in order to achieve the goal of the group. The MBTI is a questionnaire test that provides situations and scores on how the individual thinks or acts to those situations. Classifications of the MBTI is extrovert or introvert, sensing or intuitive, thinking or feeling, and judging or perceiving. These classification result in 16 personality types and forces testers into one type with no in between for flexibility (Ribbons & Judge, 2013). Results from MBTI is good for self-awareness and career development only. Leaders who use MBTI testing in the first step of employee development usually approach the personality types to find areas of opportunities instead of focusing on the strengths of his or her employees. For cultivate high performing employees, leaders should build on the employee strengths and manage around his or her weaknesses (Robin, 2008). Arthur Anderson became commonly known for the motto “Think Straight and Talk Straight” (Parrino, Kidwell, & Bates, 2012). This motto served as an ethical guideline for the organization. Mistakes Made within the Organization Arthur Andersen quickly fell victim to accounting scandals within the accounting practice. The first mistake made within the organization was due to financial conflicts between the auditing department and the consulting department. Some of the consulting clients were also auditing clients and when the consulting departments profits exceeded the auditing departments profits, this created a conflict of interest. Maintaining the separation between these departments and the funds would have alleviated this issue.
