INTRODUCTION TO THE HUMAN RESOURCES MANUAL

The Government of India (GOI) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in collaboration, have designed the ‘‘Innovations in Family Planning Services’’ (IFPS) project to serve as a catalyst in reorienting and revitalizing the contry’s Family Planning program The IFPS project has selected the state of Uttar Pradesh (U.P.) as the primary site and testing ground for program innovations. The IFPS project proposes to assist the state of U.P. to significantly reduce the total fertility rate through comprehensive improvement and expansion of Family Planning services. To achieve this purpose, the project has three objectives which are as follows : 1. Increase access to family planning services 2. Improve the quality of family planning services 3. Promote family planning services The IFPS project, as anticipated currently, will have a life of 10 years State Innovations in Family Planning Services Project Agency (SIFPSA) registered as a society in Lucknow (U.P.), will be responsible for implementation of the IFPS project. It will function as a facilitator, stimulator and initiator in strengthening family planning services delivery in the public sector as well as in the private sector. The Human Resources manual, which follows, lays down the objectives, policies and procedures of the various aspects of Human Resources Management and Development for SIFPSA. In most organizations, the Human Resources (HR) manual evolves over the years through prevailing practices and statutory requirements. However, such an evolution leads to ambiguities in the initial phases and causes much distress to the management and employees. By preparing this manual in the early phases of the society, it is hoped that such ambiguities in terms and conditions of employment will be minimized as both, the management and the employees,…...

Operations Mangment

...Free Management Library Operations Management Assembled by Carter McNamara, MBA, PhD Operations management focuses on carefully managing the processes to produce and distribute products and services. Usually, small businesses don't talk about "operations management", but they carry out the activities that management schools typically associate with the phrase "operations management." Major, overall activities often include product creation, development, production and distribution. (These activities are also associated with Product and Service Management. However product management is usually in regard to one or more closely related product -- that is, a product line. Operations management is in regard to all operations within the organization.) Related activities include managing purchases, inventory control, quality control, storage, logistics and evaluations. A great deal of focus is on efficiency and effectiveness of processes. Therefore, operations management often includes substantial measurement and analysis of internal processes. Ultimately, the nature of how operations management is carried out in an organization depends very much on the nature of products or services in the organization, for example, retail, manufacturing, wholesale, etc. Sections of This Topic Include: Purchasing Control and Coordinating Function of Management Product and Service Management Quality Management Inventory Management Logistics and Transportation......

CLEARLY, THIS IS NOT AN ANSWER IN EXPOSITORY FORM THAT YOU WOULD EXPECT FROM A STUDENT BUT IT PROVIDES THE POINTS THAT SHOULD BE TOUCHED ON IN ANY INTELLIGENT AND FAIRLY COMPLETE ANSWER. Texas Bank Tornado In March 2000, at 5:30 p.m., a tornado hit several major buildings in downtown Fort Worth, Texas. Among the buildings damaged by the windstorm was a tall glass tower that a large bank had leased mostly for administrative offices for its 600 employees, but that also had public banking facilities on the lower floors. Because the tornado hit just after the end of the workday, there was no loss of life, but property damage to the building and its contents was extensive. Since the bank did not own the building, the bank had to arrange for access to the property after the loss through the building’s owners. Moreover, the city of Fort Worth’s building inspectors declared the building to be imminently dangerous. After it was labeled imminently dangerous, the bank’s officers and employees had no access to the building for over a week. During this week wind and rain caused further damage to the furniture, equipment and valuable papers. The bank’s risk manager had made prior arrangements with a disaster recovery......

...Males are therefore expected to mate with as many females as possible, while females are expected to be discriminating. However, given a simultaneous choice between two females of variable quality, it may be adaptive for a male to choose the higher quality female. A wide variety of animals tend to select mates based on judgment of particular qualities they possess which may indicate important information about a potential mate (Jones, 1992). Previous studies have shown that often males use female size as a cue for assessing the size and quality of their clutch (Whiting & Bateman, 1999). In the lizard, Platysaurus broadleyi, previous studies have found that males often tend to select larger females, possibly for this reason (Fitzgerald,1982 ;Rostker, 1983 ;Whiting & Bateman, 1999). found that Fecundity is an important aspect of female quality that may be evaluated by males (Trivers, 1972). Clutch size in P is fixed at two and Mou- broadleyi (van Wyk ton, 1996). However, egg size can reasonably be ex- pected to positively correlate with maternal body size, as has been reported for many lizard species with fixed clutch size (e.g., Andrews and Rand, 1974; Vitt, 1986; Doughty, 1997). This in turn may give larger offspring a competitive advantage (Lack, 1954; but see Sinervo et al., 1992). Based on this assumption, we tested the hypothesis that given a choice, males choose larger females. Phenotypic factors such as maternal nutritional condition and......

...The Model of Choice The model of choice as an OD practitioner to solve this problem will be the Action Research Model, due to the following reasons:- 1- It focuses more on solving specific problems facing an organization rather than grasping opportunities. 2- It involves considerable collaboration among organization members and OD practitioners through a cyclical process in which initial research about the organization provides information that guide subsequent actions. 3- It places heavy emphasis on data gathering and diagnosis prior to action planning and implementation, as well as careful evaluation of results after action is taken. Steps of Action Research Model to solve the problem a- Problem Identification:- The Bank executives noticed that there is a major rift in the relationship between AAIB bank employees and the newly acquired MAIB employees that were noticed through the following symptoms :- 1- There were several disagreements between many employees. Some of these disagreements turned to fights which needed a third party intervention to end them. The common factor between the disagreements which took place was that they were, most of the time, between an AAIB employee of AAIB origin and an ex-MAIB employee. 2- Several complaints began to arise and be received from customers.
