Global Mba Marketing Assignment 1

...Marketing MBSW60297 Assignment 1 Program: Global MBA – Hong Kong SAR Group Student Name: Angela Lau Student Number: 8726568 Date: 20 August, 2012 Background For reasons of confidentiality, the name of the company used in this assessment will be referred to as Company X hereafter. Company X is a multi-national company listed in Hong Kong SAR, China. Its business covers areas such as garments manufacturing, shoe manufacturing, bag manufacturing, fishing apparatus, information technologies, real estate investment and logistics. The sector that we will be exploring here is focusing on manufacturing. Market Company X, as a garment manufacturer, sells massive quantities of garments in different styles to its customers, branded garment companies that have their own retail stores allocated across the world, who then resell to the end consumers. Company X has the capability to produce the products but does not have the tools or right channel to sell to the end consumers. In order to sell to the end consumer, Company X would need to promote its products through advertisement, and has the right distribution centres for its products to reach the end consumer, which Company X does not have, or have no intention to achieve this at that point. Hence we can conclude that Company X is taking a business to business market approach. Baines et al (2011, p.28) pointed out that “in a business to business marketing activity, it...

...University of Phoenix MBA/580 '' Strategies for a Competitive Advantage Instructor: William Wider Mission, Vision, and Values Week 1 January 14, 2009 Mission, Vision, and Values: A-Z Wireless The company originally opened its doors January 2, 1992 operating under the name of Southern California Telecommunication Distributors, Inc. (SCTD), (A-Z Wireless, 2009). SCTD target market initially consisted of small cellular resellers in Southern California that did not have the buying power to purchase the most popular name brand phones such as Motorola, Nokia, Ericsson, Audiovox, LG and Samsung, in an affordable manner. James Walters, founder of SCTD, realized that the demand for cell phones was extremely high and logistically there was a supply chain gap between international manufactures and resellers (Walters, personal communication, January, 13, 2009). Only a few companies existed nationally in the role of distributor, and James wanted to be amongst the first in Southern California. Uncovering this unsaturated market niche afforded SCTD to grow its business from a small region wholesaler to a nationwide reseller. From 1992 to 1997, SCTD had grown to become a company that imported cell phones and accessories from various countries, and serviced customers on both a national and global platform (A-Z Wireless, 2009. A-Z Wireless is a small business organization in the wireless......

...Module 1: Commercial policy Origin of Commercial Policy Ricardo in 1817 proposed the theory of comparative cost advantage which brought out the capacity of one nation to produce more of a good with the same amount of input than another country. To prove Comparative cost advantage in India arises due to a billion people having advantage in production of goods or services that require large amounts of labor. Factors like ability to speak English, low labor costs due to large workforce, cheaper internet, and telephone communications add to the advantage. International trade cycle The commercial policy adapts a change as per the changing international trade cycle. The international trade shows stages like emerging exports with mass production followed by foreign competition and finally competition from imports. 1. Exports May be only manufacturer of new product Overseas customers learn of product, export market develops 2. Foreign production Export volume grows Production technology becomes stable Reduced costs for transportation Exports diminish 3. Foreign competition Foreign manufacturers gain experience Compete in export markets 4. Import competition Foreign producers obtain economies of scale Compete in quality and undersell domestic company in domestic market. Due to this dynamic business setting, the trade policy has to emerge and adapt it self to international demands and cause economic development. Comparative advantage theory of......

...PART: TWO Answer Q.1 Career planning is the process by which one selects career goals and the way to reach those goals. In HRM major focus is on assisting the employees achieve a better personal goal and the opportunities that are realistically available in the organization. Objectives of Career planning in Industry • Attract and retain talent by offering careers, not jobs • Using Human resouses effectively and achieve greater productivity • Reduce employee turn over • Improve employee morale and motivation So we can understand that employee is important for every organization, and their career planning is must. Since every employee has desire to grow , he feels highly motivated when the organization shows him a clear path as to how he can meet this personal ambition while trying to realize corporate goals. When reorganization doesn’t come in time for meritorious performance and a certain amount of confusion prevails in minds of employees whether they are part of organization, with a chance to grow or not, they look outside resulting in job attrition. So, the absence of a career plan is going to make a big difference to both the employees’ and the organization. When employees do not get the right breaks at a right time, their morale will be low and they are always on their toes trying to find escape routes. This scenario of high turnover is not in benefit of any organization. Therefore in each organization should try to put their career plans in place and......

Sometimes it’s best to look at problems from an outsider’s perspective. You don’t have be conventional and do things the way the establishment tells you. This is how people come up with innovative ideas that change the way we live and how we do business. I can see how the implications in Gladwell’s article can be applied to business and the MBA program here at Capella. Many of the program outcomes of the MBA program teach us the same skills that Ranadive used to take his team the championship. He applied foundational knowledge across core disciplines, integrated information from differing perspectives, and provided solutions through critical thinking and analysis. ...full power to the popular majorities of Parliament by the vote. It requires the recognition of Parliamentary sovereignty, and furthermore it calls for the preservation of the principles of rule of law, judicial independence and more importantly the rights of all individuals. Although the Government’s recently launched National Human Rights Framework promises a selection of human rights protection mechanisms, in light of its failure to provide a bill of rights that many Australians want, it is an inadequate attempt at promoting and protecting the more vulnerable groups. Even though the Framework claims that it reserves the function of statutory interpretation for the courts, in reality it empowers the Parliament with the capacity to “guide”[1] the courts into enacting legislation. The Government’s downplay of judicial influence cannot be ignored and this points to a discussion of whether Australia needs a bill of rights. The role of the courts also need to be evaluated with respect to the other branches of government, the legislature and the Executive, in an effort to attain a healthy balance between judicial independence and Parliamentary sovereignty for the people of Australia, and to bring to an end the ongoing debate of whether Australia really needs a bill of rights. To begin with, consider the Framework’s initiatives. The first objective “reaffirms” the government’s commitment to international treaties. This is beneficial in the sense that certain legislations are......
