My Professional Development Plan
My professional development plan is to grow as a nurse by obtaining knowledge through school and daily life and work experiences. In five to 10 years, I will be able care for patients and their families as a nurse practitioner. Setting short-term and long-term goals will help guide through the journey to transition into the role of professional nursing and provide new opportunities for the future. Beliefs and values influence the decisions or choices people make in their personal and professional lives. My philosophy of nursing incorporates my beliefs and values, which includes being an advocate for patients and their families during their most vulnerable times. Continue my education to provide the best quality care to all patients. Using a holistic approach by looking at each individual as a whole, caring for his or her body, mind, and spirit (Chitty & Black, 2010). Nursing is evidence- based practice, which is the care provided to patients and families that has been proven through research to be the safest way to implement care. My values and beliefs have been acquired throughout my life from people around me and my experiences. My values and beliefs will continue to change as I grow older, continue my education in nursing and have more experience in the nursing profession.
One of my short-term goals is relatively simple, which is to complete the course of study that I am taking to the best of my ability. My short-term goal is based on my perspective of education and my desire to continue to expand my academic performance in preparation to a bachelor’s degree program. I plan to achieve this short-term goal by active participation in online discussion questions, participation in learning teams, and completion of assignments with a…...

...Abstract This is my professional development plan that reviews the standards in which I practice along with my areas of strength and weaknesses. The American Nurses Association (ANA) has developed standards of professional nursing practice for the nursing community to follow. Through the scope and standards of professional nursing practice, I have produced five year and ten year goals including an evaluation of those goals. Professional Development Plan Nurses must possess an understanding of the ethics of the nursing profession and the responsibilities imposed on the nurse’s professional practice. Nurses may, over time and because of a variety of reasons, lose sight of the professional conduct expected. There is a criteria of standards that the nursing professional is expected to follow. In the following context of my professional development plan, you will find the experiences I have had with such standards and what I feel are my strengths and weaknesses. I have created goals that I wish to seek for my nursing profession including my five and ten year time frames for such goals. Standards of Professional Practice Standard 7: Ethics The registered nurse practices ethically. This code is designed so that the nurse delivers care in a manner that preserves and protects healthcare consumer autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs. It is especially important that the nurse to takes appropriate action regarding instances of......

...Professional Development Plan Gina York AED/201 December 16, 2012 Carla Gull Professional Development Plan A new school year begins and new teachers take their places at the head of the class and write their names on the board and introduce themselves. This day has been a culmination of many challenges faced head on. Many short and long term goals planned and accomplished. All of which has brought them here to this day. Full of excitement, hope, anxiousness, fear and doubt and expecting to feel all of those emotions and probably some more. Feelings of excitement for finally fulfilling a lifelong dream. Anxious and wondering if they made the right choice but most of all, will they be able to find that spark that will inspire their students. Short-Term Goals Personally, I have always found it to be helpful to have a plan or a set of goals for everything that I have wanted or tried to accomplish. It has been said that I am a bit on the obsessive and compulsive side of organization. I also find it difficult to go through a day without creating some sort of list. Whether it is a to-do list or a list of what I need to pick up as I dash in and out of the grocery store on the way home. I feel quite confident that I can expect that I will approach teaching the same way. As a teacher having a goal to reach for would be especially important. Before I can set my five year goal, I need to decide exactly what it is that I want to accomplish in five years. A person can say......

I live outside of Austin with my fiancé, my 16 year old son, Tyler, and my Boxer, Rocco.  I have 2 other grown children, Tawnie and Terran, a granddaughter, Kadence that live in Colorado. I was born and raised in Colorado, but moved to Texas a year ago and I love it. I love country music, dancing, home remodeling, animals and big trucks.  I have been an RN since 2000, with most of 14 years in Labor and Delivery and 3 years in Emergency. I love high risk OB, but most of all, I love sharing the special moment of bringing new life into this world with expectant parents. My educational goal is NP in Women’s Health. Strengths and Weaknesses I have a strong sense and intuition of what people are feeling, so I tend to be a people pleaser and put myself by the wayside at times. I do need to fine tune the art of slowing down and taking more time with the patient, sadly, due to staffing issues and the heavy demands on us, this sometimes takes a backseat to other things. I tend to be overly sensitive to criticism and I have to remind myself that things are not personal. I possess a great deal of empathy. I can feel what people are going through and be supportive in a way that others might not know how. I am extremely outgoing and I want people to like...

...Professional Development Plan Professional Nursing Practice November 28th, 2009 Nursing philosophy is a theoretical foundation that serves as a frame of reference to provide guidance and direction for the clinician. Many nursing scholars including Patricia Benner have contributed to the nursing philosophical base. My personal nursing philosophy is shaped by the early pioneers in nursing to promote health and achieve optimal state of wellness for the patients. An individual value and beliefs system plays an integral role in delivering nursing care. My personal values and beliefs have guided me throughout my nursing profession. During my nursing career, I have carefully examined different pathways to achieve higher education to maximize my potential as a health care provider. This paper will discuss my personal philosophy of nursing including values and beliefs; roles of a baccalaureate prepared nurse including role transition with new opportunities available; two professional short term and long term goals including barriers and challenges; develop a strategic plan to accomplish these goals within five years. In my daily practice as a registered nurse, my focus is directed by my philosophical beliefs to promote wellness for each individual. As a clinician, I respect the values of the early philosophers who have outlined the responsibilities of the nursing profession. Based on the guidelines of the philosophers, a clear understanding of each patient’s......

...of Phoenix Axia College 11 Professional Development Plan Shelia Brock There are many things to consider when becoming a teacher. There are also many things to remember once the position of teaching has been reached. Having a professional development plan is something to keep in mind when beginning and going through the teaching experience. By creating this professional development plan I will be able to apply what I have learned in this class to my professional career. Here I will discuss my professional development plans to ensure that all students have a clear understanding that having an education is important and can lead to much success in their future. When many hear professional development plan, they automatically think anything that goes along with work. They will never think that their opinion or thought has anything to do with their professional development plan. Only the individual can assess their own professional development plan and know what areas they need improvement on. Professional development plans can also be tweaked a little bit when assessing it and seeing what areas needs improvement on. In the next five years I plan on completing my Associates degree in elementary education and possibly pursuing my Bachelors. I also plan to continue to work in the position that I currently hold if not assistant, then lead teacher. I also plan to explore to find out what needs to be done for me to possibly begin my own school or some sort of......

...Professional Development Plan Stephanie Ledford LDR/531 January 18, 2016 VICTOR RAYNERI Professional Development Plan As each class starts, each person in the class is assigned to a learning team. Each week the team could be assigned a weekly project. This could be a difficult chore in the beginning since no one in familiar with each other. Each person has their own personality and ways to do projects, which could be very different from their other teammates. My objective is to complete a professional development plan that will help us work as a team and work towards a common goal. An individual or a team uses a professional development plan so that they have set goals and strategies to achieve the same goal at the end of the period (Multiprofessional Faculty Development, 2012). To help me develop this plan each team member has been asked to take the DISC Assessment. DISC is a personal assessment used to determine behavior types, and how to interpret the behavior (DiSC Profile, n.d.). The DISC assessment has four styles it uses as a determination. They are Cautious (C Style), dominance (D Style), interactive (I Style) and steadiness (S Style). A cautious person is detail orientated, a slow worker and has very high expectations for themselves. A person who is dominance is very goal orientated, need control and must achieve their goals. A interactive person is very enthusiastic, must have acknowledgment and has great people skills. A person who is......
