One Night with Blue Note
“One Night with Blue Note” directed by John Jopson is based on a jazz concert performed at The Town Hall in New York City on February 22, 1985. This film brings together some of the jazz legends associated with Blue Note over the years as well as some newly signed artists. The concert introduces more than 30 of the world’s most revered jazz musicians in the form of all-star bands and is considered by many to be one of the most important nights in jazz history. Some of the great jazz musicians we heard were Freddie Hubbard, Jackie McLean, Jimmy Smith, Woody Shaw, Walter Davis Jr., Michel Petrucciani Art Blakey, Stanley Turrentine, Joe Henderson, Grover Washington, Jr., and Tony Williams.
My favorite artist in the film was Michel Petrucciani. He is not only a great talented pianist but an inspiration as well. Michel Petrucciani was born with osteogenesis imperfecta which is a genetic disease that causes brittle bones and short stature. He still became one of the most accomplished jazz pianists of his generation, despite having arms which caused him pain. I believe that he teaches us that anything is possible with hard work and dedication no matter how hard things may seem. Although I am not a big music fan, I feel this concert was worthwhile watching as well as listening too. At the end I am glad I watched this film because it allowed me to be more open minded to music and the different styles and forms. These people and countless more, and innumerable more influences on the music scene that it is owed gratitude that jazz has become what it is and that it has survived so…...

One Night

...I was tossing a turning the entire night, I didn’t know what to do, I was hot, uncomfortable and in pain, I was sick again. The house was dead silent and I desperately tried to fall into slumber but the pain was unbearable. I sat up only to find my sister along with two of her friends packed like sardines on my bed, there was the answer to my physical discomfort. I worked up the strength to get up and go to my bathroom on the hunt for medicine. Suddenly, my phone vibrated, it was my friend away at boarding school in England. I spoke to her for about 10 minutes completely forgetting why I had originally gone to my bathroom to begin with. I resumed my quest and searched for painkillers but I was still empty handed, they were nowhere in sight. I decided to look in my bedroom but due to the mountain of mess and clutter my sisters had left that evening moving around was not exactly possible. Using my phone as a light source I began searching the window box and glimpsed that my room door was open, I found this a bit peculiar because every night my father metamorphoses into a drill sergeant and ensures all doors and windows are locked. I looked further and saw my dad in the passage so I thought nothing of the open door. I called to him, “Daddy, Daddy, Daddy…” but he did not respond, I assumed he was checking on my sisters other friends that were still sleeping in the living room and had not yet taken up residence in my bed. I realized my dad was in jeans and a t shirt but it did not...

It Happened One Night

...It Happened One Night was a “screwball” comedy directed by Frank Capra in 1934. Screwball comedy gets its humor from its characters and its improbable situations. The movie is about a spoiled heiress Ellie Andrews, played by Claudette Colbert. The heiress ran away from her family because of her father who didn’t like the man that she was with. Ellie was running away to New York City when she met Peter Warne, played by Clark Cable. Peter is a reporter who been looking for a story for his dying career when he met Ellie on the bus. He was very eager to find a story that when he found out that Ellie was on the same bus, he didn’t miss the chance. During their trip to New York City, the duo gets into several adventures. And during their adventures, you’ll see how “sex” is being repressed. You’ll also observe how the Code by the Catholic Legion of Decency restricts showing the “real” story or what’s actually happening in the movie. You won’t be seeing “adultery and illicit sex,” “seduction or rape,” “vulgarity,” etc. in the movie because of the “moral and societal” code. One of Ellie and Peter’s adventures is when they had to hitchhike for a ride when either of them didn’t have enough money to continue riding the bus. Peter said that he could get them a ride by using his “hitchhiking fingers”. He tried a million times but it was not successful. So, what Ellie said that she wanted to give it a try. And something completely unexpected happened. She pulled up her skirt and......

...Night is a memoir written by Elie Wiesel about the suffering of the Jews during the Holocaust. Night is also an autobiography account of a recollection of the Holocaust through the eyes of survivor, Elie Wiesel. He takes his readers with him from his home and beyond. After reading this book, readers will have a deeper understanding of the holocaust. “FEAR WAS GREATER THAN HUNGER” (59) Wiesel takes the reader through the events of the day. Half the group, his father among them, were at work. The group Eliezer was in stayed behind and was resting when the bombing started. All inmates were confined to their blocks. Almost in slow motion, Wiesel describes how one prisoner crawled on his belly through the deserted street to a cauldron of soup that stood unguarded in the roadway. The other prisoners look on with fear and envy, all of them consumed with hunger, at the man risking his life in quest of a little soup. When the famished man finally manages to pull himself to his feet and reaches into the cauldron, he is shot and falls dead beside it. Wiesel notes that, despite the danger to themselves from the bombing, the inmates were not afraid but glad to see the camp being bombed. “Fear was greater than hunger” this man showed mutiny and rebellion towards the SS officers just so he could survive , he put himself in danger in order to live this reason is why everyone-including the SS officers watches in disbelief as one man who dared committed suicide for a ration or two more of......

Fred Estaire's "Day and Night"

...Fred Astaire is one of the great jazz artists of the twentieth century, he is best known for his brilliant dancing in the movie musicals of the 1930s. Fred Astaire introduced “Night and Day” on stage, and his recording of the song was a #1 hit. He performed it again in the 1934 film version of the show, renamed The Gay Divorcee, and became his signature pieces. The construction of “Night and Day” is unusual for a hit song of 1930s. Most popular tunes then featured 32-bar choruses, divided into 8-bar section, unusually with an A AABA musical structure, the B section representing the bridge. The vocal verse is also unusual in that most of the melody consists of single note with inconclusive and unusual harmonies underneath. Repeated notes in the verse is an indication of Astaire’s obsessions Night and Day; You are the one; Only you, beneath the moon, and under the sun The melody is just the same, one note either played or held for two and one-half measures. All the repeated notes flatten the melody, which transfers the emphasis to the harmonies and Latin beat. Instrumentation: piano, bass, drums and guitar Performance style: Rhythm: The tune begins with a pedal (repeated) dominant with major seventh chord on flattened sixth of the key, which then resolves into dominant seventh in the next bar. Harmony: Jazz is genre of music with an emphasis on improvisation, and swung syncopated rhythms. It often utilizes elements of the blues, and often uses standard show......

For one, it gave me my second book. And two, it is not every day you sit in an empty compartment and a young, pretty girl walks in. Yes, you see it in the movies, you hear about it from friend’s friend but it never happens to you. When I was younger, I used to look at the reservation chart stuck outside my train bogie to check out all the female passengers near my seat (F-17 to F-25)is what I’d look for most). Yet, it never happened. In most cases I shard my compartment with talkative aunties,...

It Happened One Night

...It Happened One Night This movie is a well put together movie and directed for being filmed during the depression. All thought the movie was filmed in (1934) I still found comedy in it today. Ellen Andrews character played by Claudette Colbert reminds me of a complete spoiled brat, she plays the character extremely well. She plays being spoiled, selfish and naïve and the original run away bride. She reminds me of the epitome of a complete spoiled brat who thinks everything needs must be bestowed to her. I feel that is why Colberts character Ellen Andrews and Gables character Peter Warne had fallen in love with each other as they had, because she had never been spoken to or treated that way she had from anyone because of his enormous personality. These two characters opened up the prelude to the romantic comedy seen for movies today like The Proposal, Failure to Launch, and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. There are some scenes in the movie that today would seem toned down and not as risqué as it was in the 1940s, such as then Andrews hails a hitch hike using her leg and says “The limb is mightier then the thumb” this is both funny and then unheard of. Another part is the fact that they are even sleeping in the same room and put a sheet up through the middle of the room just to make it seem more appropriate. A part that I didn’t notice the first time watching it is when Warn is buttoning up Andrews shirt after they out witted the men who are searching to find Andrews for......

...for a way to organize notes, or anyone who needs more flexibility than Word provides in the creation of documents. OneNote is also consider as a universal application. It is available in multiple operating systems, which include Microsoft Windows, Mac, Android and iOS. Therefore, we can basically use OneNote whenever and wherever we are. Whether we are at home, in the office or on the go, our notes will travel with us as long as we have a smartphone, a tablet or a PC around us. Not only that, we can even share our notes and collaborate with others across multiple devices. OneNote is built around a notebook metaphor. It organizes data into notebooks, and we can create as many notebooks as we need. Every notebook you create contains sections, which appear as tabs across the top of the notebook’s main screen. Every section contains pages, and pages are where you actually put your data. So, for example, if we were planning a cross-country summer vacation trip, we can create a Summer Vacation notebook. Within that notebook, we can create separate sections for each state you planned to pass through. And each state section could contain pages for specific sites that we planned to visit. One thing that makes OneNote interesting is the flexibility it gives us when we add information to a page. Every page in OneNote is freeform. We are allowed to add text, images, links to webpages, tables, and other bits of information anywhere you want. Want to add a text note? Click anywhere on......

...research papers, essays, and term paper examples. INFOLINKS_ON Push and Pushback in Streaming Video 1. a. Fostering deployment of technology that enables user-friendly, ease of access to the Netflix streaming service. b. Initiative of Netflix to get into original programming. c. Growing competitions from businesses such as, allow people to stream videos at no charge. d. Fees that studios charge Netflix for access to the studios’ content. From these four challenges I think that the Netflix‘s development of original programming is the most difficult to address need a lot of effort and a major investment in a completely different direction from sharing video either through DVD rental or online streaming. I think the easiest one would be dealing with the fees because the raising fee can involve an increase in Netflix’s own price structure, which could bring an effect on demand for its distribution services. 2. Each of the four major challenges faced by Netflix relate to the genetic managerial challenges of dealing with globalization, diversity, and ethics, they all link of the challenges   that confront Netflix, some of the link are more clear than others. Technology deployment is happening with producer around the world. The growing competition in the video streaming market is progressing global, and the development of original programming in competition with major media companies go beyond the borders of the U.S.A. The fees that increase to Netflix are not......

One Night

...alone in my room on a calm summer night, awakened by the thunder. It was hard for me to sleep due to my excitement of my 6th birthday party the next day. As I dosed off to sleep I woke up to a loud noise. Peeking out of my cover I realized it was thunder. Sacred of treacherous winds and the rain I looked out my window to wish on a star hoping and praying the rain would go away. As I am in my window I start to feel my house lift from the ground swirling round and round. I ran to my parent’s bedroom to make sure they were alright; attempting to open up the door they seemed to be a strong force preventing me from getting in so I yelled mom/dad as loud as I could but there was no response. Next I sprinted down the stairs to my brother’s room and tried to open the door but his was locked. Feeling hopeless and afraid I ran back to my bedroom and got underneath my covers. I started to pray that this was all a bad dream that I would soon wake up from, the rain came to a halt and the winds began to settle. As I pulled the covers from off of my head, then got out of the bed to go the window I notice clouds of fog surrounding the house. What I thought was a bad dream was not so bad after all; there were stuffed animals and candy everywhere. I notice that when I walked it was as if I was floating on thin air like there was nothing beneath me. Everything was in slow motion, I thought to myself wow is this what every kid experiences the night before they turn 6 years old. ......

Justin: One Night Only

...One Night With Justin January 17, 2007 is a night I will remember forever. It is the night my dreams became a reality for one night and one night only. On this day at 7:30P.M., at the Save-Mart Center in Fresno, California, I saw the man of my dream, My Love, Justin Timberlake. What made this night even better was the fact that I was about 20 feet from the stage. I had floor seats to the most amazing concert ever. My roommate and I were in heaven. Justin came to Fresno on his FutureSex/LoveSounds tour. Joining him on tour was female singer Pink, who was the opening act, and producer and rapper Timbaland, who joined Justin on stage for a new numbers, including a monologue of his own. Pink opened up the show at the stroke of 7:30. She came out in a denim tank top and denim pleaded skirt. She got the party started. Her performance was energetic and amazing. She even performed an acrobatic routine in the air. At around 9:00P.M., the teasing began. The band members slowly made their way to the stage and they began to play a little interlude. The arena, already lively, began screaming their heads off, crying, shaking, jumping up and down, and anticipating the moment when the most amazing man in the world would reveal himself. The first song started up. It was the title track FutureSex/LoveSounds. Justin emerged from the center of the stage, dressed in a black suit, with a white guitar around his neck. Silk screens were surrounding the entire round stage. The......
