Explain the personality of the Grinch by using the concepts or terms from two (2) of the psychological approaches you read about in this module (theorists and concepts listed below).

Trident International University

2014

In this research, I will discuss the Grinch’s personalities and how I was able to utilize psychological theories to understand his behaviors. The Grinch displayed a hostel and uncaring attitude for the people of Whoville in the beginning and by the end, the Grinch had transform into a character that grew a heart for the citizen of Whoville and changed his personality and by his changing ways, it helped the people of Whoville have a better understanding of who they were too. In the Movie, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, “The Grinch”, a fictional character played by Jim Carey that was a creation by Dr. Sues that derived from the children book, ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’, written in 1957. The story has been transformed into a television show and betrayed in theatrical plays. The Grinch is an outcast member of the village Whoville that lived on Mount Crumpit, in which surrounds the village. It was also the land-field or dump for the village’s trash. He ran there, climbed to the top after being bullied in school as a child. This is where the psychological hate for Christmas continued to grow in him and where he lost his heart for the Christmas season. The Grinch was different from the others of the village in appearance because he was green in color and was as hairy as an adult, even in his childhood. The people of Whoville love the celebration of the Christmas. During the time leading up to Christmas, they sang songs, decorated their homes, stores and displayed so much joy that, it was heard from far distances, even to the mountain…...

...Companies will determine how many shares they are offering, as well as a reserve price. A road show may still be part of the process to educate large investors about the company, but there is no share allocation. Instead, when bidding opens, investors will enter a bid for the price and number of shares they want to buy (essortment.com). This method is more fluid and has less cost risks than the traditional method, making it the better option. Avaya may be known to some investors because the company first hit the market in 2000 as a spinoff from technology company Lucent. The company was publicly traded in 2007 when it was acquired by private equity firms Silver Lake and TPG Capital. Avaya is currently valued at $5 billion and plans to file for $1 billion (thetelecomblog.com). Though there is a lot of competition in the communication technologies business, Avaya has been able to produce gains and maintain their spot as a billion dollar, business communications empire. The type of investors Avaya is likely to attract are those familiar with the success of the company, and those interested in investing in business communication technologies. The investors would be familiar with the technologies Avaya offers and would be able to understand their concepts, products and services that are available to the public. They will most likely have researched Avaya and be able to recognize their strengths as well as weaknesses in the marketplace. Their past market standings will be of......

Bank of America is the nation’s largest bank holding company and financial company that serves individual consumers, small and middle market business, corporations and governments. The services provide range from banking, investing, and asset and risk management. (2011, Wikileaks) According to Webster’s (1996) ethics is defined as the study of standards of conduct and moral judgment. The manner in which a company does business tells how competent and trusty worthy people can deal with the company. A company that not only promotes an ethical environment, but that lives the company’s goals, policies, and values is a company that when controversy and tough times occur will make the right decisions and weather the storm. If the company not only promotes a fair and positive environment, but also values and foster this environment, the company will be around a long...long time. The reason this is, is because I am a laid back person and have a personality more like Mr. Cook’s so that’s who I would prefer to report too. It just seems I would like Tim Cook’s personality more. He seems a lot more humble than Steve Jobs ever was. In one of the articles for the required readings for this module “Mapping a path out of Steve Jobs shadow” the article states the company is happier and even somewhat more transparent than it was during Job’s tenure. There are fewer frantic calls at midnight, and there’s less implicit pressure on engineers to cut short or cancel vacations in the heat of product development cycles. This alone, states the differences in how the work environment was run under Job’s reign versus Cook’s current time as CEO. The article further states that unlike Job’s, Tim Cook is the type of manager that would wait until the end of meetings so other can give him information to process. His leadership style is quite different both internally and externally. He’s much more open. They think he believes he doesn’t have all the answers so he’s willing to listen to other people. I’m not so sure this was the case with Steve Jobs. We......

...PSY-101-OL May 2008 1a. Define the fundamental attribution error and explain how it distorts social perception. The fundamental attribution error is “the tendency for people to over-emphasize dispositional, or personality-based, explanations for behaviors observed in others while under-emphasizing situational explanations” (Wikipedia, 2001). People have the tendency to choose the dispositional explanation instead of the situational explanation of and event. For example your boss walks up to you in the morning and says “your fired” most people would say this was caused by the fact your boss does not like you. They would not base it on the fact that they have not been to work on time in two months and have had numerous verbal and written warnings. The fundamental attribution error effects social perception as well. People have an instinct to assign certain characteristics to those they come across. This social perception bias can be observed everywhere in society. It has become instinctive to form expectations of people the first time they are encountered. 1b. Describe the effect of cognitive dissonance on behavior and attitude change. Numerous experiments and studies have shown that cognitive dissonance has the power to change attitudes and behavior. Leon Festinger’s (1957) cognitive dissonance theory proposes, “people have a fundamental cognitive drive to reduce this dissonance by modifying an existing belief, or rejecting one of the contradictory ideas” (Wikipedia,......

...altering the situation is not driven by emotion. What drive us are the things that we are emotional towards, i.e. a person, our health, etc. One can consistently gain weight over time and do nothing about it. Within that time, one can be depressed, choose to isolate their self, and continue eating and not working out. It isn’t until a motivation factor comes into play, such as health risks, when one chooses to do something about it. How might understanding these motivational and emotional factors help you to understand your own health and fitness? Ironically as of right now, I have been working out on a daily basis since I sent my kids off for summer break to their grandparent’s house, 3 states away. I have a 7 year old, 4 year old, and 1 year old. My husband works a lot and was either never at home or at some school for months at a time. He actually came back from his one year deployment a few months ago. In addition I was (and still am) attending school and running a business as well. With that, it was very hard for me to focus on myself. I do blame it on laziness as well though, because whenever I did have a few minutes to myself, instead of resting or watching YouTube videos, I could have been working out, but did not do that. Now that I have only school to deal with, it is a lot easier for me to focus only on myself. I am not a morning person, so it hurts when my husband wakes me up at 7 in the morning, but I know it will all be worth it. Will you change anything......

From the beginning, I did not approve of this website being valid, just based upon looks and as the old saying says “don’t judge a book by its cover”. As the test came to a close it gave me a type of ISFP: Introvert (11%), Sensing (12%), Feeling (25%), and Perceiving (11%). Including those results, it also said that I have a slight preference of Introversion over Extraversion, Sensing over Intuition, Perceiving over Judging and a moderate preference of Feeling over Thinking. The second time I took the test it gave me different results. INFJ: Intorvert (22%), Intuitive (12%). Feeling (38%), and Judging (1%). ...ITM301 Module 1 Module 1 – Case Click Link Below To Buy: http://hwcampus.com/shop/acc201-module-1-case/ Data, Information, and Organizational Knowledge Assignment Overview Every company has, to a greater or lesser extent, an information subsystem -- that is, a means by which it gathers data, interprets it, and makes it available to employees through a distribution system. Whether we are talking about marketing information, cost projections, accounting results, or internal quality reports, every company depends on knowledge to support its planning, decision-making, and control. So how does knowledge fit into the picture? The emergence of the field called knowledge management has highlighted some key propositions in the last 10 years or so. All organizations are storehouses of knowledge that operate in information-rich environments made up of people and things both inside and outside the organization itself Organizations organize, interpret, and evaluate this information to solve organizational problems Knowledge is the primary mechanism for processing and utilizing information People's brains are the key knowledge resource of any organization Codified knowledge stored in books, audio, videotapes, and computer systems can be an important knowledge resource as well There are organizational processes and strategies for IT management and management in general. ...Trident University Module 1 CASE Assignment MGT599: Strategic Management Process/Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives Dr. Nanette Metz June 19, 2016 Executive Summary Coca Cola Company has executed the most successful beverage strategy of the past 50 years. Its strategic communications, however, fall short of the success of its underlying strategy. Coca Cola advertises a formal mission statement that does little to communicate its strategy to its stakeholders, and should therefore reshape a more specific formal mission statement. Its vision statement is hidden deep within its website, and also falls short of guiding the company's future. While the vision statement more closely aligns with the company strategy, it should also be reshaped in order to provide a more specific tract for future growth and goals. Introduction Coca Cola Company is the most successful beverage enterprise in the United States-it is the largest (as measured by customer volume), among the oldest (125 years in business), and most profitable (with 59 consecutive years of dividend growth), (Coca Cola, 2016). Coca Cola operates under a winning strategy- and when a strategy is working, it should be largely left alone. All that remains is synchronizing all the elements of an organization in order to execute such a strategy with efficiency. The most fundamental purpose of a strategy, after all, is to "inform each of the many thousands of things that get done in an organization every day, and......

...Research Methods for the Health Sciences – Module 1: Case The Research Question, Literature Review, and Research In any research plan devising the research question is a critical step in the research process. It helps in determining what, where, when and how data will be collected. A properly developed question can help focus ideas and ensure the collection of appropriate data. In this case study I will discuss how descriptive research questions differ from questions of relationship and questions of comparison. Then I will discuss how a researcher should determine if prior research exists on the intended topic. I will also discuss what factors should be used to gauge the quality of previous research as well as the importance of the assessment. Finally I will discuss if the formulation of a research question should precede or follow consultation with scholarly literature Descriptive, Relationship, and Comparison Research Questions. There is a distinct difference between descriptive and relationship research questions. According to Newton, Bower, and William (2004), the descriptive research describes data and characteristics of information being studied by answering question of who, what, when, where, and why. It contains factual information but does not determine the cause or create a relationship between the information. In contrast the relationship question uses the......
