...Appendix B LAN Operating Systems Scenarios Read the three scenarios below and answer the questions that follow each scenario. 1. You are the network administrator for a new company that has 10 users and that plans to add 5 more users within a year. The files need to be accessed by all 10 users, and each user must have different security rights. What kind of network would you install? How would the pieces and components of this network relate to each other? Define each component. I think that for this particular situation I would set up an extended star network. I would choose this one because the business is relatively small and plans to grow, this type of network setup is very easy to add users onto and also still provides the access restriction needed for lower level employees and the ease of access for higher level employees without them being able to see what the other is able to access. “As the name implies, this topology is a star of stars. A central device, usually a switch, sits in the middle. Instead of attached computers forming the star’s arms, other switches (or hubs) are connected to the central switch’s ports. Computers and peripherals are then attached to these switches or hubs, forming additional stars. The extended star is sometimes referred to as a “hierarchical star” because there are two or more layers of stars, all connecting back to the central star (Tomsho, 2011).” I think that this network would be perfect for a small company that......

Hcr 210 Appendix B Week 4 Interviews

...Associate Level Material Appendix B Office Comparison Interviews One of the reasons that procedures vary for handling patient records is the volume of patients seen on any given day. By comparing and contrasting record management systems in different sized facilities, you will have information to contribute to several activities in this course. By Week Four you should have completed three interviews, which you may conduct in person or by phone. You need to use the list of questions in the table on the next page to gather information about each of the following: • A small medical facility—an office for one or two doctors • A medium-sized facility—a clinic where several doctors work in partnership • A large facility—a hospital or medical center People will be more likely to cooperate if you disclose that the information you want is related to schoolwork, you will not take up much of their time, and none of the information is confidential. Consider introducing yourself with something like the following: Hello, my name is ________ and I need some general information about filing systems for a school assignment. Would it be possible to speak to the person in charge of filing patient records for a few quick questions, or may I call back at another time? If the facility needs proof that you are a student, you must provide your instructor with a name and e-mail address to send a permission notice, and then allow three days for your instructor to send......

...Phoenix Material Appendix B November 2012 Research Methods List the advantages and disadvantages of the following research methods: Case Study Advantages Case studies allow a lot of detail information to be collected that would not normally be easily obtained by other research designs. It provides detailed descriptions of precise and rare cases. An in depth data can be collected than can be found through other experimental designs. Case study can be a source of new ideas about a person’s behavior and open new ways of findings (Psy270 textbook). Case study can support a theory. Disadvantages One of the main criticisms is that the data collected cannot necessarily be generalized to the wider population. This leads to data being collected over longitudinal case studies not always being relevant or particularly useful. Case studies are generally on one person, but there also tends to only be one experimenter collecting the data. This can lead to bias in data collection, which can influence results more than in different designs. It is also very difficult to draw a definite cause and effect from case studies. Correlation Method Advantages Enables testing of expected relationships between two variables, and making projections, forecasts or predictions. These relationships can be assessed in daily life events. More experimental research can be conducted using new groups of participants to establish cause and effect. Correlational......

...University of Phoenix Material Appendix B Research Methods List the advantages and disadvantages of the following research methods: Research Method | Advantages | Disadvantages | Case Study 1. Case study in psychology refers to the use of a descriptive research approach to obtain an in-depth analysis of a person, group, or phenomenon. A variety of techniques may be employed including personal interviews, direct-observation, psychometric tests, and archival records. . | Such detail not normally obtained by other studies, specific and rare cases, the development of original hypothesis used for later testing. | Collecting longitudinal case studies not always being useful, some non-scientific, one client and one subject could lead to a bias result and wrong data will bring different results than others, case-control needed but difficult to obtain. | Correlational MethodCorrelation is a statistical measurement of the relationship between two variables. Possible correlations range from +1 to –1. A zero correlation indicates that there is no relationship between the variables. A correlation of –1 indicates a perfect negative correlation, meaning that as one variable goes up, the other goes down. A correlation of +1 indicates a perfect positive correlation, meaning that both variables move in the same direction together. | More data than experiments- being more applicable to daily life opens up further research, correctional research helps provide a good start for......

Research Methods - Appendix B

...University of Phoenix Material Appendix B Research Methods List the advantages and disadvantages of the following research methods: Case Study Advantages Case studies can provide new ideas and discoveries regarding behavior, allow new techniques to be utilized, new ways in which to apply current techniques, and they offer a means to study issues that occur infrequently, in addition to providing relative theoretical support as evidence to existing theories and individual information (Comer, 2011, p. 20). Disadvantages There could be bias from the researchers conducting the case studies, there could be further explanations than what the researcher and the client are experiencing in the case studies, the same events that occur between different individuals may be important in one case study and not in another, they do not provide general information or causal information, statistical analysis is not possible, and they are not replicable (Comer, 2011, p. 20). Correlational Method: Advantages The correlational method provides general information, statistical analysis and replicability is possible, researchers are able to determine the direction and magnitude of the correlation, and whether or not variables are in any sense related (Comer, 2011, p. 21-22). Disadvantages The correlational method does not provide causal information, therefore, cannot explain the relationship between variables, in addition to not providing individual......

Psy 210 Week 1 Dq#1

...PSY 210 Week 1 - Discussion Questions #1 What are some of the ways that psychologists attempt to explain human behavior? One of the major debates within the field of psychology is the degree to which nature versus nurture shapes human behaviors and traits. What comprises our nature? How would you define nurture? How would you describe the interaction between genetic potential, environmental influences, and personal choice? In your opinion, is biology destiny? Explain why or why not. Most psychologists try to explain human behavior through the study of nature vs. nurture, or the study of one’s genetic make-up and their environment and how much each affects personality and behavior. Nature: can be described as a person’s biological construction or blue print that may have some influence and explain an individual’s behavior. It is thought that some of a person’s genetic make-up dictates certain traits that an individual will have like their disposition, personality traits, disabilities, aggressiveness, whether they may are introverted or extroverted, etc. which can all influence the behavior that an individual might have. Nurture: can be described as the environmental factors that can influences and individual’s personality and behavior. Environmental factors can be familial influences, influence of friends, the neighborhood in which a person lives, their living arrangements, experiences, and much more. “It appears that genetic factors are involved in......

You have been asked to provide the psychologist with a recommendation for which research method should be used to gather data on the pathological liars and their spouses. Using the table below list each research method and its advantages and disadvantages for use in this study. Research Method | Advantages | Disadvantages | Naturalistic Observation | It studies real life behavior in it most natural form. It can be video recorded so it can be analyzed closer. It is studied everyday consist then the results are more natural. | Observer Bias Cant freeze life | Case Studies | Gives an in-depth individual portrait of a person. They do a number of tests to find out things about you. It is a observation about your life as it is every day. | Observer BiasYou cannot draw a confident conclusion on a single person when doing these tests because each person is unique. | Surveys | They are done in a face to face interview or with a questionnaire. | They have a low response rate. And the questions have to be worded to basically throw the people off to get an honest answer. | Correlation Research | The testing does show high and low scores, and shows who is going to be successful and who will be unsuccessful | All they can do is predict no guarantee | Experimental Research |......
