Generally salt, flavoring or preservatives are added to fresh butter. How to Make Butter Making butter at home is a very simple job. With very few easy steps you can make fresh delicious butter at home. Fresh milk cream is agitated to make butter. There are a number of factors that are responsible for the quality of butter formed, like, temperature of cream, quality, etc. Following are the steps on churning butter. Step #1: Cream Formation You can use milk of cow or any other animal, like, goat, buffalo, etc. Collect the milk in a clean container and allow the milk to cool in a refrigerator (12 hours at least). A layer of cream will be formed on top of the milk. Separate this cream from milk by skimming it slightly. You can do this with the help of a spoon. Collect the cream in a jar with a tight lid. Step #2: Cream Souring This is the most important step in order to get good quality butter. ...Discussion - "Mr. Peanut's Alter Ego Leads Kraft Into Planters Butter" - Can Planters succeed in the peanut butter business? What do you think of its strategy of targeting adults? How would you position Planters peanut butter to compete with strong incumbents? - Due Sunday, October 14th I agree on what you are saying. For company perspective, Planters, as “nut experts”, can modify and enhance current products to produce new products. For customer’s perspective, they do not care about how the product arrived in the marketplace. They care about how the produce suit for them. Planters did really well in nut products, and they have enough experience and loyal customers. However, Planters have lots of competitors. So, I just say that Planters have an opportunity at succeeding. The company may fail, but it depends on how the strategy they use. I really agree he say that adults’ purchase habit will affect future generations. Adults will be great target, but I think we still need to detail the adult target. The different products will get more profits and customers, such as sugar added peanut butter for someone really like the taste of peanut, or low fat peanut butter for women. In China, you can find lots of the same cases like Planters. Most of succeeded companies focus on advertisement. They spend large amounts of money to promote their new products. You can see their products in TV, newspapers and website. They change your mind step by step from being aware of the......

Peanut Allergies

...For more than a decade, peanut allergies in children have tripled in the United States. These dangerous allergies are causing harmful anaphylactic reactions that can lead to death. In 2008 a research team discovered that 1.4% of children had a peanut allergy, more than three times the 0.4% rate back in 1997. (Hendrick, 2010) This is an alarming rise that should not be ignored. The question is, why is this happening? I believe that the recent spike in peanut allergies is partly due to the excessive cleanliness during a child’s developmental years in our society. This phenomenon is known as the Hygiene Hypothesis, which was first introduced by Dr. Erika Von Mutius. During the 1990’s she compared the rates of allergies and asthma in East and West Germany. Before these two places were unified, East Germany was poorer and less hygienic than their neighbors to the West. Dr. Von Mutius hypothesized that the children growing up in East Germany would suffer from more allergies than the children in West Germany. To her surprise she found that it was actually the opposite! As a result from her studies, the Hygiene Hypothesis was born. (PBS, 2001). The Hygiene Hypothesis states that due to our relatively clean lifestyle, our bodies do not need to fight as many germs and bacteria as we did in the past. This results in a shift from fighting infections, to developing allergic reactions. (McMorris, 2007) With the development of antibiotics and the increased emphasis on using products such......

Peanut Butter Co in Germany

...The country that we researched to export Peanut Butter & Co peanut butter to is Germany. Germany is located in the Western and Central part of Europe. The Capital is Berlin that is also the largest city in the country. Other large cities in the country include Hamburg, Munich, Cologne and Frankfurt. Germany is part of the European Union, out of all the states that make up the European Union Germany is one of the most populous countries and has the largest economies. We chose to export peanut butter to Germany, because it is a rare item to find in the country. The German people are more familiar with a product called Nutella. Nutella is a creamy Chocolate hazelnut spread that is used on all food such as breads, fruits and more. Peanut Butter and Co offer a variety of product but one similar product to Nutella is their “Dark Chocolate Dream” peanut butter. Peanut Butter & Co could have an advantage over Nutella because recently the price of Nutella rose due to a shortage of hazelnuts. The Dark Chocolate Dream as well as the other peanut products they contains no cholesterol, no trans fats, no hydrogenated oils, and no high-fructose corn syrup. It is also gluten-free, certified vegan, and certified kosher. Since the Germans are all about eating healthy with no artificial additives this product will be a perfect fit in the country. The United States has to follow regulations and directives form the FDA. Germany also has to follow strict protocols in order to receive products......

The Peanut Corp of America

...The Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) is now a defunct peanut-processing company that was founded in 1977 and based in Lynchburg, Virginia. After a substantial outbreak of salmonella in the US in 2008 and 2009 the company was forced out of business. PCA had processing plants in Georgia; Virginia; and Texas. They mainly provided peanut products to institutions such as prisons, schools and nursing homes. They also sold peanuts to food processors who used the peanuts in such things as cookies, ice cream, and other edible products. PCA had a long history of food quality problems in the 90’s, they were sued by the American Candy Company after it was discovered by the FDA that their peanut butter had surpassed the FDA’s tolerance level for aflatoxin a toxic mold. American Candy had already processed the peanut butter into 8,000 cases of “kisses” that could not be shipped to the intended customer Wal-Mart. PCA was sued again in 1991 by Zachary Confections when 40,020 pounds of nuts had unacceptable levels of aflatoxin. Concerns regarding PCA’s sanitation standards had gone back to the mid-1980’s. Late in 2008 and the beginning of 2009 nine people and 714 people from 46 states, half of those children became ill from food poisoning due to eating foods that had been tainted with peanuts this according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Test done by Food and Drug Administration and the CDC confirmed that outbreak source and the sickness people were experiencing......

Peanuts

...The peanut,, is a species in the legume or "bean" family. The peanut was probably first cultivated in the valleys of Peru.[1] It is an annual herbaceous plant growing 30 to 50 cm (0.98 to 1.6 ft) tall. The leaves are opposite, pinnate with four leaflets (two opposite pairs; no terminal leaflet), each leaflet 1 to 7 cm long and 1 to 3 cm (⅜ to 1 inch) broad. The flowers are a typical pea flower in shape, 2 to 4 cm (¾ to 1½ in) across, yellow with reddish veining. Hypoglycemia means "under the earth", after pollination, the flower stalk elongates causing it to bend until the ovary touches the ground. Continued stalk growth then pushes the ovary underground where the mature fruit develops into a legume pod, the peanut – a classical example of geography. Pods are 3 to 7 cm (1.2 to 2.8 in) long, containing 1 to 4 seeds. Peanut oil is often used in cooking, because it has a mild flavor and a relatively high smoke point. Due to its high monounsaturated content, it is considered more healthy than saturated oils, and is resistant to rancidity. There are several types of peanut oil including: aromatic roasted peanut oil, refined peanut oil, extra virgin or cold pressed peanut oil and peanut extract. In the United States, refined peanut oil is exempt from allergen labeling laws. A Crunchy and Creamy Warzone: How Peanut Butter Almost Killed Me

...My girlfriend is a peanut butter nutter. This is my tale of surviving a creamy vs crunchy warzone. Based on actual events. * * * I arrived back at the flat after a long session of sculpting out perfect pectorals in the gym to face my girlfriend attempting a 'Joey' (see here) before unleashing a torrent of abuse in my direction. The crime? Buying crunchy peanut butter. She acted like crunchy peanut butter was dangerous — saying the nuts inside would cut the roof of her mouth. She was saying that creamy was dreamy. My girlfriend, Leila Sanie, is a creamy peanut butter enthusiast, and she asked me which one I actually preferred. I brought the crunch down on her. An aimless debate sparked and a peanut-buttery bloodbath ensued: names were called, punches were thrown and nutritional facts were read. Things got nutty. I asked how many people in the room knew that George Washington Carver, the creator of peanut butter, ate the crunchy type. Leila and I both raised our hands. One of us wasn’t telling the truth. You see, Leila spreads her lies like she spreads her creamy peanut butter to the very edges of underdone pieces of toast. Some of her peanut butter propaganda included, “I like my peanut butter as smooth as my personality,” and, “That statement is as hard to swallow as your crunchy peanut butter.” It ended up something like this I could’ve let it go. But I, like most Brits, will fight tooth, claw and nail to prove that my opinion...

Peanuts: a Reasonable Choice

...ESL 52A/B Advanced Reading and Writing 29 October 2014 Peanuts: A Reasonable Choice It is said that elephants have a great memory, and they never forget to eat their peanuts. From food to oils, plastics and nitroglycerin, peanuts are ubiquitous and versatile, and they can be found in meals all around the world. They are well known for their flavor and their nutritional value. Because of their reasonable prices and their high-protein content, peanuts can be a used as a dietary supplement for low-income families. In a study about the importance of nuts in the diet, researchers conclude that peanuts supply almost the same amount of nutrients to the diet as the other sources of protein (Lino et. al 82). In addition, peanuts are cheaper and longer lasting compared to other protein sources like meat and poultry. These features make the peanuts an efficient food in terms of “energy cost”, and a great economical option for families with limited income that are looking for a high-protein alternative to fast and processed foods, which have considerable health risks. Furthermore, one of the most important recent uses of peanuts, which demonstrates their the high nutritional value, is the treatment of malnutrition in developing countries. The World Health Organization, UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders, and other non-governmental organizations have been using a fortified peanut-based food paste called Plumpy’nut or RUTF (Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food) in patients who have severe......
