Riordan Manufacturing HRIS Analysis

The ability to analyze and study the needs of an organization is an essential skill for a systems analyst. A systems analyst uses the concept of analysis and design to maintain and improve their information systems. The main goal of systems analysis and design is to improve organizational systems, typically through applying software that can help employees accomplish key business tasks more easily and efficiently (citation). The first steps that need to be taken in systems improvement are research and analyzing the scope and feasibility of a new project.

Systems Analysis Approach

The information-gathering technique and design method proposed for this project is the Rapid Application Development method, acronym RAD. The RAD methodology is a process in which research of user requirements is compiled before producing any detailed system design documents. Using this approach decreases the time needed to design and implement new systems.

Factors of Successful Analysis

The Rapid Application Development method incorporates using three different approaches of systems analysis. These sub-approaches are Prototyping, Computer-Assisted Software Engineering Tools, and Joint Application Design. By using the three different perspectives, RAD streamlines the entire systems analysis and design process.

Prototyping

Prototyping is the building of a raw and small-scaled working model. This model is an easily modified and extensible representation, simulation or demonstration of a planned software system, likely including its interface and input/output functionality (Maner, 1997). There are two major factors of using prototyping. The first is that Prototyping involves the user during the system design. Second, prototyping…...

...Running head: GAP ANALYSIS: RIORDAN MANUFACTURING Gap Analysis: Riordan Manufacturing University of Phoenix Gap Analysis Riordan Manufacturing is currently experiencing a decline in employee retention which could further translate into missing deadlines to complete projects, decreased quality of products and sales, and finally a decrease in customer satisfaction. To stop this chain of events, management needs to identify the key issues that the company is experiencing in each sector and implement changes that will reflect the future goals of the company. Management needs to address the employees concerns regarding the future employment with the company due to uncompetitive wages, random performance reviews, and unfair promotion processes. In determining how to reward the contributions of individual employees, managers must consider how various performance-contingent pay practices, including executive stock options, might enhance employee motivation.(Dreher & Dougherty, 2001, p 77). The challenge that management is facing in creating a reward system that will address the main concerns is incorporating the system into the company’s strategic plan, so that it satisfies both the management and the employees. The reward system affects job satisfaction by making the employee more comfortable and contented as a result of the rewards received. The reward system influences motivation primarily through the perceived value of the rewards and their contingency on...

...Riordan Manufacturing, HRIS Analysis BSA375 January 24, 2010 SR-RM-004 – Analyze Human Resources System The key success factor to any organization is the quality and contribution of its people. Only with effective human capital management can an organization attract and retain top notch talent. Riordan Manufacturing, Inc. is a successful plastic injection molding company with offices in China and the United States. ...Riordan Manufacturing LT B: Novelette Anglin, Tina Greenlee, Tyracia Johnson, Melissa Richard, Rachel Ribar, Scott Scansen HRM/319 December 5, 2011 Suzan Jackson, MA, PHR Introduction A. Initial Steps to Design HRIS for Riordan Human resources are the fit between the individual and the organization (Gallos, 2006). This means when there is a decision to use a Human Resource Information System (HRIS) or change one that is in place, there are some very critical steps that have to occur. Learning Team B will briefly cover the steps in this paper. First, there needs to be a needs analysis completed. This is done to show where the current system, implemented in 1992, meets the requirements today and looking into the future. It will also drive out gaps. Areas where new functionality is needed to address an issue or need within the organization, between the individual, and the organization. In this project for Riordan Manufacturing the needs analysis clearly showed the current HRIS system does not have the technical capabilities to handle their increased number of employees, and departments within the company. Next, Learning Team B goes into the planning phase within the change process. This phase starts planning for the long and short-term goals of the new HRIS system to meet Riordan’s needs as outlined in the needs analysis. Key items to include are the integration points within the departments for the processes, who will access and use the system, and the......
