...The Justice Department in one of the twenty counties in the state of Texkansahomatucky. Recently, the state Justice Department published a short report releasing crime statistics that included a crime map and your county was flagged as a high crime county. Because the District Attorney in the county is up for re-election this year, he is concerned that this report will significantly hurt his election chances. He has asked you to both verify that the methodology used in the official report indeed indicates that your county is in fact a high crime county and to write a short report proposing a "better" methodology, where you are to interpret "better" to mean a methodology that takes your county off the list of high crime counties! Instructions Your first task is to attempt to replicate the results of the report you are given based only on the information contained within the report. As you recall, the report should include both "a verbal description of the metric used including at least your method of calculation and the high crime/low crime threshold" and the raw data used to create the metric. If the attached report you have in front of you did this, you should have no problem recreating the results (you will need to cut/paste the data from the appendix of the report given to you into excel). Should you be unable to replicate the results, if I determine that this was because the original report was not written well enough to be replicable then it will not affect your......

March 19, 2001 CONFLICT MODE The Five Conflict-Handling Modes The Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI) is designed to assess an individual’s behavior in conflict situations - that is, situations in which the concerns of two people appear to be incompatible. In such situations, we can describe a person’s behavior along two basic dimensions: (1) assertiveness, the extent to which the individual attempts to satisfy his or her own concerns, and (2) cooperativeness, the extent to which the individual attempts to satisfy the other person’s concerns. These two basic dimensions of behavior can be used to define five specific methods of dealing with conflicts. These five "conflict-handling modes" are shown below. Modes & Means

...Transport Means & Modes 1- Transport Means : These means of transport are : Cars (trucks) , Ships, Trains, Planes and Pipes. These are the means which are used either for carrying people or carrying the goods from one place to another. 2- Transport Mode : Is the mode or the environment in which the mean is running or moving. Thus, we could say that the land roads are the mode for cars, buses and trucks. Sea is the mode for ships and marine crafts. Railway is the mode for trains. Air is the mode for the planes. And finally the pipeline is mode for pipe transportation. First : The Land Roads When building the roads there are certain requirements which should be considered and require special engineers who are specialized in this aspect in order to meet the local and the international requirements and standards which include the speed limits for cars and trucks, number of lanes, width of each lane, the degree of the steeps and the radius of the curves and many other things. Factors to be considered when planning for building a road : The highway roads and those which are designed for heavy lift trucks should pass out towns and cities in order to minimize traffic, noise and pollution inside the towns. When planning for a road or roads network it should be done to be capable of serving the future traffic considering the possibilities of the increasing population, number of cars and trucks and the expected increment in moving goods. Roads......

...same production path. Example: A car company that chose to expand into tire manufacturing, which would fit how you've defined vertical integration. Horizontal relationship is when a business tries to become a monopoly by buying other companies that hold similar products, and essentially acquiring the competitors so that they become a monopoly. Example: hot dog vendor choosing to expand and offer hamburgers. Who's already established who wanted to expand to choose to offer another popular food item, in this case hamburgers. 4a) Describe the various stages in a carrier selection decision process. It consists of twofold process. 1. The firm selects a transportation mode which include basic mode of rail, water, truck, air and pipeline. 2. To select a specific carrier from within the chosen mode or intermodal form by choosing the legal carrier type of common, regulated, contract, exempt or private. 4b) Explain each of the important determinants and consideration for selecting a carrier. Transportation cost - Important criterion such as rate, minimum weights, loading and unloading facilities, packaging and blocking, damage in transit and special services from a carrier. Transit time – Time elapsed from the time the consignor makes the goods available for dispatch until the carrier delivers same to the consignee. Reliability - Refers to the consistency of the transit time a carrier provides. Capability – refers to the carrier’s ability to provide......

Mean Median Mode

...Mean, median, and mode are differing values that furnish information regarding a set of observations. The mean is used when one desires to determine the average value for data ranked in intervals. The median is used to learn the middle of graded information, and the mode is used to summarize non-numeric data. The mean is equal to the amount of all the data in a set divided by the number of values in that set. It is typically used with continuous figures. The result will probably not be one of the values in the data set, but is a representation of all those values. In other words, if I want to find the mean salary at a particular company, I would add together all the salaries and divide by the total number of salaries added: $50,000 + $56,000 + $54,500 = $53,500. The problem with mean figures is they are easily slanted by one figure that stands far above or below the others. In the previous example, if I have three annual salaries of $50,000, $56,000, and $54,500, and then the company president’s salary of $260,000, I will derive an average salary of $105,125. This mean is double the actual salaries of the lower paid workers. In this case it would be more appropriate to find the median salary. To find the median salary in the previous example, we arrange the data according to value: $50,000, $54,500, $56,000, and $260,000 and find the middle which would be $55,250. If I wanted to know the breakdown of salaries in the company, I would use mode. Using this method, I could......

Learning Mode

...In the traditional learning mode, it is more likely that students learn things all by themselves. After teachers analyse the knowledge points and ideas contained in the textbook, students need to revise it and understand it to a deeper level. However, as the mode improves, the modern learning type is more likely to be studying in a group, which means that several students gather together and form a small team to learn all the things. Such mode could also be referred to as collaboration. In this learning log, it will provide discussions based on the recent experience. A significant step before work is the correct selection of team members. It is seen as the highest productivity if there are seven to ten members within a team. After the formation, the group leader needs to be chosen. The leader must have some key characteristics and personalities that others do not have, including a fair and right distribution of tasks, a high understanding of member needs and strong capabilities to cope with conflicts and quarrels within the team (PBI, 2014). After the formation of the team, we introduced ourselves to each other for the convenience of familiarity. Afterwards, the team leader explained clearly what the task is and how it is divided among us. Such interpretation made us fully understand what the requirement is about and what we should do next. It is definite that conflicts within the team are unavoidable. The conflicts may occur from own judgements and ideas of the......

(Approximately 1200 words) WORD COUNT: 1245 words An Enquiry System is a system of interconnected components for stimulating knowledge on a problem or issue of importance . An enquiry system is composed of inputs, processes and outputs, which can be further defined by two categories; Simple/Old Thinking and Complex thinking. Simple/old thinking is broken down into inductive-consensual and analytic-deductive, whereas Complex thinking consists of dialect thinking and multiple realities. Inductive-consensual is the classic way of knowing. This enquiry involves limited observation on any situation, but is capable of observing its own process by means of reflection. “Inductive – Consensual enquiry derives a conclusion from a limited set of observations which may be:  Analogous (for e.g. ‘the situation was a bit simpler than this one but a little more complicated than that one’)  Historical (for e.g. ‘in the past the answer has always been such-and- such within those tolerances’)  Multiple independently sourced (for e.g. An average......

Network Modes

...Network Modes Zachary Gurley NTC\405 August 10, 2015 Bradley Rush Network Modes Throughout time, Ethernet has transformed computer systems into a network of computing devices with unlimited potential. Before the days of Ethernet, networking was not very effective or efficient. The only way to transfer data before this time was to go from device to device and manually move files. Definitely not what I would call a good means of transporting data compared to the ways of today. However, during those times, you had to work with what you had. All of this was done before Ethernet was an industry standard. However, more recently, people have utilized the potential of Ethernet to move frames or packets across a network. Because of Ethernets adequate performance, and superior economics, it won the heart of network administrators and most people using networking equipment. Today, Ethernet focuses on wired LAN technology and continues to grow in speed and sophistication. Despite Ethernet’s sophistication, its means of communication is done in a systematic manner. For instance, Ethernet sends data across a network in frames or packets. Data is wrapped in six layers of assembly which consist of first a Preamble, next a recipient MAC address, followed by a senders MAC address, length, (Data), Pad, and the cyclic redundancy checker for errors of missed packets. Lastly, but more importantly, the foundation of Ethernet are found at the physical and data link layer of the OSI......

Modes of Communication

...The modes of communication regardless being verbal, or written or even electronic always tend to influence a message in all possible ways. With the internet nowdays being such a vast communication tool there always seems to be some what miscommunication. Messages not being recieved/ or lost , you can never tell the tone behind the message that is used. With the lack of tone you really dont know what the person really feels about the subject at hand. That makes it very hard for me to get a good feel for things. I was always told by my father " look me in the eye when you talk to me ". I have carried that rule with me all my life, in business, in school, and so forth. When you see a person in the eye you can even look for specific body language that can help distinguish if the person is interested or not, or if the person is understanding you or not. Before I remember we used to send letters back and forth to people and loved ones overseas, now its simply replaced by phone calls. To be more modern now its the Internet using chat clients or VOIP ( Voice over IP ) such as Skype, Yahho or MSN Messenger. Things in life have gotten much easier for us to do with the new electronical and technological innovatiosn that use the Internet. I must add thos that communication with texts over the phone is extremely stressfull because you have no clue whaat the other person on the other end is interpreting things and what they mean with the message that they are trying to convey. I......
