Top 10 Greatest Inventions

...Top 10: Greatest Inventions Of All Time Inventions are pretty useful things, in fact, inventions are very useful things. People are inventing new things all the time - unfortunately, the vast majority of inventions tend to be utterly useless; but every now and then someone comes up with something that completely changes the world and it is these few ideas that this hub is about. Now, there are, undoubtedly many equally great inventions as those on this list, but unfortunately it's had to be cut down to just 10. Things such as language have been omitted from this list for, while they are, indeed, quite useful, they were more developed out of necessity than invented; the same applies to fire - it has always been present on this earth, all we did was work out how to create it on a whim! So what are they? Read on.... 10 - The Wheel: I know what you're thinking: "what, those round things?" well, the short answer is "yes", the long answer: "yes it is". Point is, the wheel is the simplest invention in the universe - you need only scoop up a handful of mud, pat it into a circle and leave it in the sun to dry! So what's so great about it? Well, almost every land vehicle in existence uses wheels as do many many other things like anything with a belt drive (car engines, conveyor belts etc.) In fact, life would be pretty hard without it - but not impossible. The Incas and Aztecs, for example, despite coming up with fully working calendars and a vast knowledge of astronomy, didn't use......

Top 10 Toyota Misconceptions

...IT system. Toyota does not connect its shop floor to an IT system for direct control and feedback purposes. Toyota uses IT systems with discretion to support its operations, primarily using such systems in the areas of supplier interface and control, and outbound distribution logistics. For example, Toyota may use material requirements planning (MRP) logic in some facilities, but it may only use this technology to schedule raw material from suppliers onto the factory floor, not to schedule or control shop-floor execution routines or operations. Similarly, within its core plant operations, Toyota factory managers do not rely on accounting, financial, or operational data supplied from an IT system to make their decisions. Rather, Toyota personnel rely on first-hand knowledge gleaned from “going and seeing” the actual conditions in a process. Improvements are driven from being directly in touch with a process, not from data provided from computers. Misconception #6: Toyota uses one-piece flow in all processes. While one-piece flow represents an ideal target condition for Toyota, it remains practical about it and never tries to force it where it cannot currently be done. For example, Toyota would like to flow, one piece at a time, out of stamping and onto the line, but presently it is not able to achieve a one-by-one flow in stamping, so small batch production with a buffer remains the rule there. However, despite not being able to operate some processes in a continuous......

Top 10 Disadvantages to Capitallism

...There has been much discussion of the current economic system in the western world, capitalism. This is mainly because of the growing anti-capitalist movement. However, as the owners of the free media are the wealthy, the anti-capitalist side of the debate has not been fairly covered. This list is not to suggest a viable alternative, although there are many. It is merely to cover the disadvantages of the current system, which have often been ignored by the media and governments. 10 Inequality The common capitalist mantra that “anyone can be rich if they work hard enough” is a fallacy. There’s only so much room at the top. In order to make money, first you have to take it from someone else. This can be done through selling things, taxation or any other means. But this means that the rich cannot exist without the poor. Any way you look at it, there’s never going to be equality under capitalism. 9 Waste In a society where resources are not evenly distributed, there is always going to be the wealthy who have an excess of resources. While occasionally these resources are given to the poor, often this excess is wasted. Millions of dollars worth of food is wasted by those who have more than they need, while there are many others who desperately need it. 8 Starvation Of course, if some have an excess of the resources in society, there are others who do not have enough. In Third World countries, many are starving because they cannot afford to feed themselves, while......

Team Synergy Top 10

...Team Synergy’s Top Ten Guidelines 1. Choose the right team members. Not all team leader/managers will have this opportunity, but certainly if you do, it’s probably the most critical. As Goodbody (2005) points out, you first objective is to make sure you have all of the knowledge and skills that you need within the team with the fewest number of people. The larger the group, the more complex it becomes to manage. When considering skill sets, you must not only take into account technical expertise but other skills such as organizational understanding and communication. 2. Defining goals/expectations/vision Having a mission is setting the plan, where the team members will be able to work to one goal to accomplish the task. This is the first practice a Manager must consider in order to get to be successfully. Townsend, DeMarie and Hendrickson (1998) said that virtual teams should determine the configuration of individual teams, dictate their mission, and ultimately determine the type of technical system required and the requisite skills and orientation of the team and its members. By setting expectations and goals each team member will have a clear understanding of what the goals are, and are expected of them to achieve and attain those goals. 3. Defined roles/ responsibilities Members of virtual team will be geographically isolated where the team manager will probably not be aware of the other roles and responsibilities that each member has at their......
