Ho ‘Oulu Landscape – Implementing Web 2.0 Technology
As a recent landscape architecture graduate of the University of Hawaii, an entrepreneur plans on introducing "Ho ‘Oulu Landscape" as a start-up business in Oahu. Realizing that there are many landscape designers and companies that capitalize in this business, this architect comprehends that he must be on the cutting edge to get recognized and sell his services. He can boast of completing many "gratis" jobs while completing his degree, and his accolades are many; it is time to start profiting from the toils of his education and marketing his skills. Marketing requires not only business savvy, but also mandates that the businessman has a considerable amount of information technology acumen in his pocket or the where-to-all of how to secure it. Using Web 2.0 tools and monopolizing on his enterprise associates, including those strong, weak and potential ties will help this aspiring landscape architect compete in a business that incorporates landscape professionals as well as yard maintenance individuals who claim to have the skills this entrepreneur holds.
This landscape architect places promotional signs in his completed jobs, passes out business cards regularly, and provides services to civic organizations focused on community beautification, in an effort to create a positive corporate image and to advertise his services. He realizes that the Internet and the services that can boast his achievements, and sell his business are available. He must start using these tools to promote his business to sell what he has available. Etiquette is respect, good manners, and good behavior. It is not just each of these things, but it is all of these things rolled into one. Five elements of business behavior is meeting people, telephone etiquette, correspondence etiquette, work etiquette, and dining etiquette. First is meeting people when meeting people both nonverbal and verbal behaviors help to define your social skills. Using effective handshakes, good eye contact, and making the proper introductions show proper etiquette. Handshakes are vital in social situations. Develop a comfortable handshake and keep it consistent. Handshakes should not be too hard or too soft. Make a solid connection of the web skin between the thumb and forefinger. The host or person with the most authority usually initiates the handshake. Eye contact is another critical factor when meeting people. Eye contact increases trust. It shows confidence and good interpersonal skills. Eye contact shows respect for the person and business situation. Secondly, proper introductions help to establish rapport when meeting people. This new implementation proves a slippery term to define, but its conceptual themes can be seen throughout the most content-rich web pages on the Internet. As an improvement upon the now surpassed web 1.0, web 2.0 provides users with an Internet “experience” rather than presenting them with a static webpage by integrating constant information updates, collective intelligence, and exploiting the immense benefits of networking effects (2007, O’Reilly). An example of the differences between webs 2.0 and 1.0 can be gleaned from a comparison of the differing approaches to the “software as a service” models of the now struggling to survive Netscape against the booming Google. In 2001, the so-called “dot com bubble” burst and destroyed a conglomerate of business in the process. Both scenarios present a way for Riordan to improve raw material ordering through different means. In order to decide which path to take the two scenarios will be discussed in greater detail including a brief synopsis on the technological role involving systems analysis and design, database design, programming, networking, and the web.
