Why is Oral Health Important for Men? Men are less likely than women to take care of their physical health and, according to surveys and studies, their oral health is equally ignored. Good oral health recently has been linked with longevity. Yet, one of the most common factors associated with infrequent dental checkups is just being male. Men are less likely than women to seek preventive dental care and often neglect their oral health for years, visiting a dentist only when a problem arises. When it comes to oral health, statistics show that the average man brushes his teeth 1.9 times a day and will lose 5.4 teeth by age seventy-two. If he smokes, he can plan on losing twelve teeth by age seventy-two. Men are also more likely to develop oral and throat cancer and periodontal or gum disease (“Why Is Oral Health Important for Men,” 2010). According to Lara (2010), since maintaining a good oral health is vital, you must strive to observe the proper ways of oral hygiene (1). Aside from personal practices such as brushing, gargling, and using dental floss, it is advisable for you to visit your dentist every 6 months. Moreover, it is necessary that you should inform your dentist not only of your dental, but also your medical history or recent health problems. Your dentist is usually one of the first individuals to detect and diagnose a health problem and he can help you in identifying these diseases in their earliest phase. In conclusion, people are advised to practice good oral hygiene in order to avoid getting some diseases. According to Kenneth, the latest Surgeon General's report regarding oral hygiene, the quality of life of many Americans is often reduced due to oral health diseases and pain (1). The disturbing pain is usually caused by gum infections, which can also result to loss of more teeth. The study also said that seventy-five percent…...

Oral Health

...Practicing Oral Health i. Why did you choose this health behavior? The main reason I choose this behavior is because I think taking care of your mouth is the upmost important thing to do as it can affect other parts of your body. I have always taken care of my teeth to avoid the dentist as much as possible and keep cavities at a bare minimum. Oral hygiene is important to keep up with because nobody wants to have rotten teeth. We all want a perfect smile without stained or cavity filled teeth so why not take care of them right the first time so never have to get false teeth. For me, oral hygiene is one of the first things I ever think of and I hope other people feel the same so they can have long lasting teeth and avoid the dangerous cancers and gum diseases. The potential epidemiology of oral hygiene can always lead to a disaster of things by simply ignoring it or putting things in a mouth that causes negative health issues. The epidemiology of oral health is influenced by age, sex, origin which is associated with oral cancer risk and established risk factors including alcohol and tobacco use, for example. Additionally, possible associations between oral cancer risk and oral hygiene, diet, nutritional status, and sexual behavior as well as the influence of genetic factors on oral cancer risk are considered (NIDCR Home). Oral health also has an effect on other persistent diseases. Because of the failure to tackle social and material determinants and incorporate......

Why Age Diversity Is Important

...Why age diversity is important All of the indications are that more people will need to continue working later in life. This is because on the one hand pensions are decreasing in value and on the other, people are becoming more likely to still have financial obligations such as mortgages or child/student support, later in life. Because there are also fewer younger people available for work. Employers will need to consider how they can best become an employer of choice for older workers and how they can retain older workers in an increasingly competitive market place. Employers will need to review their HR practices and procedures and arrangements for training to ensure compliance with the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006, but also to ensure that all employees including younger and older workers are respected and valued in a workplace that is attractive, responsive to their needs and optimizes their opportunity to contribute. For some organisations this will mean a significant culture change. Consider that 25-34 is the current favourite recruitment age of employers and The Employers Forum on Age has estimated that ageism costs the UK economy over £26bn each year. Diversiton’s one day course ‘Age Diversity’ will help you to explore the issues that affect your capacity to be an age positive employer and help you to identify the steps you need to take to fully comply with the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006. What do we mean by ageism? Ageism is a......

Why Accounting Is Important

...Why accounting is important The significance of accounting has never been more needed than today in the market, with the economic crisis and the worlds market in decline. Maybe a lot of people are losing their jobs in many fields, accounting stays is staying strong. The reasons why this is happening is because accounting is a very important aspect in the economy and the society. If we ask an accountant, why we need accounting, he will say that is the only way to grow our business and flourish. It is the backbone of the business financial world. It was created for the development of trade and commerce during the medieval times. Italy was the first country that had made a record of accounting entrees, and it was published in 1494 by a Venetian Monk. Record keeping has been around as long as the trade and business industries. A fact which is interesting is that the principles upon which the first accounting practises were established, has changed very little in the many hundreds of years that accounting is been in use. The process of recording those transactions has evolved the past two hundred years. Thanks to the creation of computers, many of the bookkeeping transactions that are very important can be performed by data entry clerks, but the result is still the same: it gives the financial statement the businesses needs to make decisions about the current status or projected future health of the business. The accounting is divided into two categories: financial......

Why College Is Important

...Assignment 1 “Why college education is important to me” Achieving Academic Excellence February 6th, 2014 The purpose of this essay is to show the importance of a college education and to provide many reasons why a college education would be important to me. I will incorporate a few quoted references along with some statistical data and my personal opinion. About twenty years ago I couldn’t give an answer to “why college is important to me”. I did enroll in a college and lasted about three semesters. I didn’t do well in many of my classes because I had poor study habits, lacked maturity, was never really focused, and just didn’t have any real motivation and goals set for myself. I never really gave it much thought. The point is I just didn’t take advantage of what college would mean to me and to my future. I wanted to enter the work force right away because I thought that I could land a good job without a college education. After fifteen years of doing different jobs and not making enough money to support a family on my own, I was finally at a crossroads. What am I going to do with my life? Do I continue to struggle? Those were really good questions. I realized that it wasn’t possible to land good jobs without better knowledge and the only way possible is to go back to school. I did some soul searching and came to the conclusion that if I am going to achieve something in this life and qualify for many positions then I must go back to college and work very hard for a......

Abina and the Important Men

...Abina and the Important Men Abina and the Important Men: a Graphical History was written by Trevor R. Getz and Liz Clarke. The story of Abina Mansah is somewhat an inspiring graphical history based on an 1876 court transcript. Abina, a woman of West Africa, was wrongfully enslaved and as a consequence, she took her former master, Quamina Eddoo, to court. The overall setting took place on the Gold Coast during the 19th century. The main scenes take place in the court room, which is filled with many “important men.” The men included a British judge, two Euro African attorneys, countrymen, and an entire jury of wealthy, high class local town leaders. This book is broken down into several parts; the graphical history, transcript, historical context, reading guide, and classroom version. All of these parts combined help to reconstruct and create a better interpretation of the story of Abina Mansah. The Gold Coast at this time was under English rule as the British began to abolish slavery. Abina was born into one of the protectorates, Asante, and enslaved in her youth. She was formerly the wife of Yaw Awoah and sold to her former master, Quamina Eddoo, to begin working in his sister Eccoah’s household. While staying at Eddoo’s plantation, Abina was told she had to marry, against her will, Tando. Tando was a man of Eddoo and because Abina didn’t want to marry him, she was told if she didn’t she would be flogged. “They say that in Cape Coast all are free.”(Chapter 1 page 7) ......

Why Is It Important

...bsb  Camp Casey Korea why is it important to follow orders Donald Fletcher bravo company 302d bsb  Camp Casey Korea why is it important to follow orders There are many reasons why a soldier should follow all of the orders they are given because every one of them is important in any circumstance. An order is a task given to a soldier that has to be done in a certain period of time in an efficient manner. There are three main reasons of why it’s important for a soldier to follow the orders they are given: To be disciplined, an effective combat, and be a good soldier and love your job. When a soldier doesn’t follow the orders they were given it doesn’t only affect them it affects everyone in the team and the goals they have set for the mission. When soldiers don’t follow the orders, the objectives are hurt and the chances of winning the war. When you’re in the army you need to stop and think if it will harm you or your battle buddies. When a soldier doesn’t follow orders while in combat zone it makes the mission ineffective, if a single soldier in the unit is combat ineffective it lowers the chances of winning, making the leaders deal with a soldier that can’t handle the workload of the unit. For example if Sergeant tells a private to prepare the guns before they go out for the mission the sergeant is telling the private to get the guns ready so they can be fully functional and help out when its needed in the fight. It doesn’t matter if the private doesn’t know why he had......

Why Is Oral Important for Man?

...literature Many People Practice Oral Health With the fast paced nature of today's world it may seem like there is little time for practicing good oral health habits. After coming home from work, putting together dinner and getting the kids off to bed, it is easy to overlook the importance of things like brushing, flossing and rinsing with mouthwash. However, experts warn that failure to do so could result in conditions like cavities, gingivitis and bad breath. In an effort to battle this complacency, the American Dental Hygienists' Association recently pronounced that October will be National Dental Hygiene Month. Throughout the month, representatives plan on leading public awareness campaigns highlighting the importance of oral health, and how easy it can be to practice healthy habits. "It is imperative to our overall health to have a healthy mouth," said ADHA president Caryn Solie. "Brushing, flossing, rinsing with an anti-microbial mouth rinse and chewing sugar-free gum are easy ways to help avoid issues that could affect the status of your oral health." She added that brushing for as little as two minutes twice per day is enough to help most people prevent cavities and gum disease, and that antibacterial rinses are an effective means for avoiding halitosis. A failure to follow these simple steps could lead to many oral health complications. Initially, plaque begins to build up around the edges of teeth. This eventually causes the breakdown of oral tissues.......

Why Is Music Important

...The similar theme running through all of these videos is listening. It is however addressed from a multitude of different angles. Examples include how architecture has aided in the development of music due to the way it influences how we listen, the danger to our health caused by listening to noise and the scientific result on the brain of hearing music and the emotional response. Evelyn Glennie points out one key importance of music in citing what it can teach us. This is the skill of listening. To avoid “scisophonia”, which was explained in one video as a disconnect between what we hear and what we see caused by listening to headphones, we must learn to “test our listening skills” by “using our bodies as a resonating chamber”. This will enhance our ability to communicate with other people , and leave behind “judgement” and preconceived notions. We can practice this particular skill according to Evelyn by listening to music that we may not particularly like at first hearing. This is because we will be practicing the discipline of patience in really listening to what we hear and contemplating it, therefore the implication is that through practicing this skill we could create a more harmonious world, as we would not be shackled to our subconscious stereotypical biases. I think that the diverse emotional experiences that can be caused from listening to music, as was illustrated in the brain scan when the Dr was listening to Bach, that we can gain from listening to different......

Oral Health Care Delivery

...Back then, health care providers focused more on vaccines and isolation as ways of controlling the diseases. Today, people are more worried about lifestyle and age related diseases. In the very way, the delivery of health care services has also changed. Disease trends, therefore, influence the delivery of health care services. One will ask what determines disease trends. Factors like globalization and industrialization are major determinants of disease trends. Globalization has increased the degree at which people from different parts of the world interact. People keep travelling from one country to another, and along the way, they are likely to acquire or spread diseases that they otherwise, would not contract had they remained in their home countries. Industrialization, on its end, has increased the need to have a modernized society. Modernization comes with an increased demand for manufactured goods, and services, and very busy lives. People are not eating healthy foods as they did in the past. Due to the busy schedules, many people do not have the time to exercise their bodies. Poor eating habits and insufficient exercise have led to lifestyle-related diseases and complications such as obesity, and diabetes. These diseases are now a major concern for health care services providers. Disease trends and population demographics determine the delivery of health care services. Age, a demographic factor, increases the need for health care services. This explains why more......

In the face of stress, the human organism reacts in the biological aspect as well as in the psychological aspect. This disorder is better known nowadays as the “Sickness of the twenty-first century” given that it seems to be the price to pay tin order to achieve goals these days. Stress is most common in students and workers nowadays, which is why the following essay will expose some of the consequences of underestimating the seriousness of stress in an individual, in a work place and in a society of the twenty-first century and some ways to manage and prevent it. Stress is manifested nowadays more frequently that one would imagine. People should start to think how frequently do they and people around them use the phrases “I am so stressed out” or “I’ve been feeling so stressed lately”. The answer would most likely be “too frequent”. Actually, stress seems to be infiltrating in each and every person’s life. The time that people spend stressing over an assignment, especially students, is inhumane. There is nothing wrong with taking two minutes and eat something or relax. Otherwise, that’s where stress begins to kick in. Stress has begun to take away peoples lives.......
