Would You Still Light Up? The current electronic cigarette was introduced to the world in 2004. It had an initial optimistic objective to offer smokers a third choice, other than quitting or suffering the consequences of smoking. The new device almost seemed unreal; it was an electronic device resembling the look of a normal cigarette with inhalable doses from a vaporized solution of nicotine. This invention allowed the e-cigarette companies to thrive from drastically multiplying sales rates. However, as popularity of these devices were booming, researchers and experts in the medical and scientific field started throwing doubts and questions about the safety of the products that we should not disregard. The United States Food and Drug Administration was not able to provide us with a clear answer, however, the negative indication hinted that electronic cigarettes were not as safe as they sounded or seemed. The risks and dangers of electronic cigarettes seem too high before any further research because of the posed threats towards children, questionable effectiveness for smokers themselves, and the produced harmful secondhand vapor. Although there was not enough emphasis on the level of danger yet, the use of electronic cigarettes have proven to be harmful for children and young adults in many ways. For example, recently there was an incident in Kansas that curious children have swallowed the refill liquids of electronic cigarettes. This consumption of the liquids containing many different levels of nicotine can be life threatening for children. According to Dr. Stephen Thornton, medical director at the University of Kansas Hospital's Poison Control Center, some refill liquids contain extreme levels of nicotine dosages that could potentially kill a child or adult (Barr). A possible factor that could ignite this behavior due to curiosity is the many different…...

...What Would You Do? Scenario 1- Della the Delinquent Cat Lady As the president of the board of directors of the cat shelter, I am faced with rather or not Ms. Della should remain as part of the staff at the cat shelter. There are several problems that have been brought to my attention and I feel that now is the time to figure out exactly what should be done regarding the matter. After, evaluating the situation and giving it a great deal of consideration, I have come up several solutions to the problem. One of the easier solutions would be to just let Della go. I have considered retraining Della as manager of the cat shelter, or having a sit down with Ms. Della and asking her how she thinks she is performing as manager. Also, I think that asking Ms. Della to step down as the manager and giving her a position that she can handle. Although, these may seem like the best solution to resolve the situation, I have to look at the pros and cons of any decision that I make. If I decide to let Della go, it might benefit the company in the sense that we can find someone that is really dedicated and committed to for fulfilling their position. On the hand, Della is already going through a tough time, and firing her will not only affect her, but affect her children as well whom she is trying to provide for. Retraining Della could really help her gain a better understanding as what is expected from her as a manger, and she could gain more knowledge that may help her excel as a......

What Would You Do

...watched video clips from ABC’s show “What would you do?” one of situations in the video was a woman with OCD with a condition of germ phobia. She had dropped her groceries on the floor and could not purchase them for she felt they were “dirty”. The cashier was playing a roll of a not so very understanding person. He kept implying that they were not dirty and that the food was fine, one customer in line tried to explain to that OCD is Obsession Compulsive Disorder and that once something isn’t right they mentally cannot handle it. In the second situation there was a man in a liquor store with his son purchasing alcohol for a party that his son was going to have. You could tell that the son was very uncomfortable with the whole thing and that the father was pressuring him. A bunch of people disagreed with the actions the father was taking. In the final scenario a woman was breast feeding her child that was at the age of four in a coffee shop. One of the actors was playing the role as a disgusted costumer in the coffee shop and was making a big scene asking the woman to do that elsewhere. A lot of customer didn’t seem to have an issue with the woman breast feeding her child in the open public. Critique: All the scenarios had good points to them, if I was the person in line at the grocery store I would have done the same thing that the woman had done while she was in line. Some people have no courtesy and are just plain rude. It would have been quite difficult for me to be......

Summit Electric Lights Up with a New Erp System

...that are most important at Summit Electric Supply would have to be ERP software from SAP. Also SAP’s NetWeaver BW data has also became important to Summit Electric Supply. These processes are important because it helped Summit Electric stayed more organize and be able to control how much was needed to be produced and distributed. The system was able to connect over 19 locations. Summit had to advance these processes to satisfy their business requirement. They would had to do updates on a daily bases instead of weekly due to the fact that if they did weekly it would cause delays. The “Batch management” was also a process that became important as well. The process was able to track that how much a supply was being needed as a batch instead of a single product making it easier to know how much was being sold. These processes pretty much modify and made Summit Electric more significant. 2. What problems did Summit have with its old systems? What was the business impact of those problems? There were a few problems that Summit went through with when they still used their old systems. The few problems they with coming across with was the fact that the old system cause them to have delay with their supplies. Also the system was complicated because the system would separate different categories where it made it difficult to combine when needed. The business impact from the problems it had was that the system was not able to keep up with the business. It limited the business......

Would You Sell Your Town for a Beer Ad?

...Anheuser-Busch. The articles are about Anheuser-Busch basically taking over the town for a three day Bud Light party for what started out to be for $250k has now turned into half a million dollars. This is a difficult decision to make for these small seasonal towns that make all of their money during the tourist season and then struggle the rest of the year to make ends meet. When Mayor Huckstep, of Crested Butte, Colorado approved the event, it was a tough decision. With the help of other members of the community, he felt it best for the economy of the small town. Many of the small town folk are in an uproar of how this will change their small, close knit community. That they will lose their quiet, quaint atmosphere. Anheuser-Busch plans to fly in 1,000 young adults and they have already painted the streets, light posts and many other things blue to publicize the Bud Light event. I believe this is a great strategy to boost the economy of these small seasonal towns to generate an income. This event will bring in lots of jobs for the town people which they really need during their slow season. Not to mention the half a million dollars Anheuser-Busch is calling a “donation”. Large companies like Anheuser-Busch will continue to advertise and produce commercials and I like that they are giving the opportunity to small seasonal towns in need of the revenue. Would you sell your town for a beer ad? Turkewitz, Julie. “Town Becomes a Beer Ad, but Residents Don’t Feel......

Would You Rather...

...Schoonover AP English 11 1 September 2014 Would You Rather… I would prefer to have the mind-blowing ability to fly whenever I want than be invisible. From an early age, most young children look to the sky where the birds and airplanes roam, dreaming of one day being able to do just that. I imagine the experience to be liberating and the perfect way to become stress-free. The crisp, fresh air massaging against your face would feel incredibly soothing. I would imagine it to be even more relaxing when you would not have to deal with traffic jams anymore. If you stop driving your car because you can fly, you will also save a great deal of money on gas, which also means that the amount of pollution and reliance on foreign oil would drastically decrease. On the other hand, the kids that would rather be invisible, I deem to be potentially sneaky and deceitful. The only reason why children would want to be invisible is so they could sneak around and get away with acts they otherwise would not. They would go behind their parents’ backs to get that cookie they were not supposed to consume. Were any of you deprived of sweets as a kid? In the end, no matter what you creep around to do, you will eventually get caught. Some might think they have the desire to spy on others, but in reality, if they hear what people really have to say about them, they would wish they could fly right out of there. Therefore, being invisible simply just gets you into trouble. There is one other reason why......

Would You Hire Your Husband

...Would You Hire Your Husband? There are significant pros and cons to hiring your husband to work in your business. If it’s you and him against the world, and your success is his success and you are working toward common goals, share challenges, triumphs and the revenues and grow as a couple as you grow the business then it is a plus side. On a very practical level, having your husband in your employ can make managing household considerations more flexible. You may be able to schedule one of you to work from home. You’ll be able to allow each other extra work time on weekends, or extra home time on weekdays, with mutual and greater understanding of the need for it. When your husband works for you, you don’t have to worry about whether his boss will understand a family commitment, or whether his wife will understand a professional one. Over the years, this kind of flexibility can really add to your quality of life. On other hand, If your marriage breaks up, he could take a lot of the business in a divorce. If your husband was employed by you or your company, or contributed in any way to its success, he’ll be entitled to a significant percentage. The greater his involvement in your business, the bigger that percentage will be. Hiring your husband gives him access to important company information, such as trade secrets, costs, suppliers, customers, etc. Naturally, no one blinks an eye about this kind of information sharing while you’re allies. But if you divorce, look out.......

Still Thinking of You

...I thought things would have been better between us as friends by now, but they haven't. I still wanted to wish you a happy birthday though and let you know I think about you often, especially since there really was no closure to our friendship. I miss you greatly and pray every night about and have faith that one day will be able to talk and laugh like we use to. I hope the same for greg and Martha since I can tell greg really misses her. As much as I miss you, I know for some reason the two of you have decided not to talk to us, I don't completely know why other than you say you were hurt and I just hope you both can find it in your heart to forgive us, and maybe also to forgive Chris. He's been really good for greg even though I don't really ever talk to him myself, but knowing that greg is happy makes me happy. As happy as you probably are as a nun greg is that happy with Chris. I think what hurt me the most was finding out about you becoming a nun from Martha instead of hearing it directly from you. I feel like you didn't trust me anymore especially on the day that you took your vows. I had no clue what was happening until 20 minutes before it actually happened. When you and Martha first came over and she was the one to tell me you were going to become a nun she said it would take a while and go in steps so I thought you were just going to be opening the order when I came. I didn't know you were going to become a full nun and it was Martha telling me. I......

...by referring friends to purchase subscriptions. One referral alone can end up paying someone’s monthly fees, and any additional leads to personal revenue. Nick said he has had people get a ticket and use MCA plan to get a lawyer and fight the ticket and that was fine. However, people have tried to use MCA for an insurance policy in other personal matters such as getting coverage on a recall on a malfunctioned part on their car. Although this is car related this is clearly not covered in the MCA determined coverage package. MCA covers road side assistant, flat tires, being locked out of your car, or even suffering injuries while driving and in an accident. Notwithstanding, they are not a warranty rather a protection while on the road. Under their contracts they are in no way required to cover issues with routine car checkups, repairs, and adding new features. One way MCA could mislead potential customers or people into making them believe their product is something they are not would be to claim that they protect people in all sorts of coverage. Meaning their plan gives other people the ability to provide insurance for all sorts of situations instead of being specific in only car related incidents. One coverage with MCA is health coverage for auto related accidents. If MCA advertised health care coverage, this would most likely result in a ton of new customers that need health care to sign up for this plan. However, this plan is not a true health care coverage......

...the street or abroad. Protecting patient’s pertinent data is becoming more and more complicated. Patients enjoy the freedom of being able to access all their pertinent medical information from all over the world. Yet, they don’t realize that many eyes are constantly watching their every move. With the freedom comes the threat of identity theft. No matter how secure a system is someone is always ahead of the game finding ways to slip through the cracks. According to Alan Paller, “there are at least 100 countries actively doing cyber-espionage (M, 2010).” In the healthcare environment you have many people accessing and using the intranet system. The IT department has the job of monitoring and blocking excess from internet sites without security clearance or certificates out of date. Unknown to the IT department is that the staff can be trying to access these sites which are not allowed. This would put the healthcare organization at risk of scripts slipping in (M, 2010). these scripts are security breaches which are used to steal patient’s personal information. Anti-virus software programs are not looking for these scripts they are looking for files. These scripts can come from social media networks which staff may be accessing. According to Dave Meilek, “most of today’s threats are blended attacks propagated on legitimate sites like Google, Facebook, Yahoo!, and many others.” (M, 2010) Attacks can come through emails which have suspicious scripts attached that help them get......

...Background | Since medical law and ethics are often interrelated, you need to have a clear understanding of both in order to protect yourselves, your employer, and the patient. Adam is quite busy since he has to watch the behavior of several patients who are confused. He's concerned that patients might choke on their food or otherwise harm themselves. If You Could, Who Would You Have Dinner with ?

...If you could, who would you have dinner with ? Well, it is always pleasant to share a meal with someone special. For instance, in a good company the meal will taste even better, moreover, it can turn into a fascinating talk, full of reminiscences, light humor or witty jokes. If I could invite anyone to dinner, I would not bother people from the past. What is gone is gone, and if we depart with some people on our life way, it is better to remember them the way we used to know them before departure. Besides, it is reasonable to value the people who do not leave you whatever happens. If you have passed much time side by side and you are still together, it is the best option for a good dinner. If I could, I would have dinner with my mother. On the one hand, she would be pleased to spend time together, as we see each other so seldom, and I would be happy to satisfy her, as I am her lifetime debtor for everything she has given to me, for her life and care. Now it is my time to take care of her. We have a lot of hilarious stories to remember and it is always enjoyable to repeat them. After the time of having dinner, I will give away carnations to my lovely mother. Carnations represent the symbol of a mother’s undying love and my mother love it so much. I think it will be an enjoyable dinner with mom and both of us absolutely appreciate it....

Would You Be Happier If You Were Richer

...my lecture is about to would you be happier if you were richer. Most people believe that they would be happier if they were richer, but survey evidence on subjective well-being is largely inconsistent with that belief. Subjective well-being is most commonly measured by asking people, All things considered, how satisfied are you with your life as a whole these days? or Taken all together, would you say that you are very happy, pretty happy, or not too happy? An alternative method asks people to report their feelings in real time, which yields a measure of experienced affect or happiness.Increases in income have been found to have mainly a transitory effect on individuals_ reported life satisfaction. Moreover, the correlation between income and subjective wellbeing is weaker when a measure of experienced happiness is used instead of a global measure. More importantly, the focusing illusion may be a source of error in significant decisions that people make. Evidence for the focusing illusion comes from diverse lines of research. For example, Strack and colleagues reported an experiment in which students were asked:How happy are you with your life in general? And How many dates did you have last month? The correlation between the answers to these questions was. When they were asked in the preceding order, but the correlation rose to 0.66(zero point sixty six) when the order was reversed with another sample of students. Similar focusing effects were observed when attention was......
